fringe + glitter

Trying not to get my hopes up just yet, but y'all, yesterday felt exactly like spring here in North Carolina! This time of year I always get antsy for warmer weather, lighter layers, and flowers. Give me all of the flowers because they make me happy.

So... I took full advantage of the high 60's to wear my glitter flats as well as my new cardigan and tee from Old Navy. I've had my eye on both of these pieces for a few weeks and finally snagged them on Saturday night in the store. The kimono style cardigan is slightly longer in the back, lightweight, and the confetti knit is too cute {pictures don't really do it justice}. I bought a size small and found it to be very true to size. The fringe tee is so soft and so fun! I love the fringe detail and don't own anything like it. I bought a medium {that's all my store had in the gray} but I love the slightly oversized fit! I prefer my tops not to cling to my body... especially right after lunch. I would definitely say size up one size in the tee for a more relaxed, longer fit.

I hope you all have a wonderful week!

sunday snaps

#sundaysnaps | week in review

I absolutely LOVE fresh flowers. I don't always buy them but when they match your shoes, you take a picture with them.

Olivia had Circus Day at preschool this week. She had her face painted like a butterfly and she looked too cute!

Before I was a my mom, I never drank coffee. Almost six years into motherhood, it's one of my very best friends. I have at least two cups a day to keep me moving.

This girl is way too big to ride in the top of the cart but it was fun pretending she was little for a just a little while. I can't believe Julianna will be six soon!

Baby girl hasn't been feeling well this weekend. She's been running a fever off and on with no other major symptoms. Praying she's good as new tomorrow!

Old Navy was having a great sale so I picked up a few items that I have been wanting for awhile. I always wait for a sale to snag the items I want from there. I had to have this cozy sweatshirt!

Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.

what i wore

#whatiwore | an instagram roundup
As you scroll through these four most recent outfits, you'll notice that one of the images isn't like the others. Pretty much every single day, I try to put together an outfit that's "Instagram worthy" but that just doesn't always happen. Some days I'm just not feeling it and end up just wanting to be comfortable and simple. Well, I had one of those days this week and I just didn't really care what I wore. I almost don't even know what that would be like to not think through what you are putting on each day. I have literally shared my outfit of the day on Instagram almost everyday for over three years! I know some people think this fashion thing that I do is crazy or silly but it's my hobby and I love it! I love putting together outfits- it's artistic to me. So if you are here and you're reading this, thank you for supporting my hobby and giving me a creative outlet!

the look for less

I have been absolutely loving the style of the wedges on the left. I spotted them on the Nordstrom website and added them to my wish list. But they are not in my price range for wedge sandals since they may only get worn about once a week or so when spring and summer roll around. I would personally invest in a good flat leather sandal though. Then I found the wedges on the right while I was shopping this past weekend... and they are $100 less! YAY for a look for less! Plus they are even on sale if you shop them online. I love how similar the straps and buckles are to the more expensive pair AND I love that they are espadrilles!

But how here's the problem. Which color do I get?! I love the tan and the black. Which one would you pick?

I absolutely LOVE the floral + stripe one below and I'm pretty sure I'll have to add it to my closet. Last season, Anthropologie sold a very similar top for a lot more money. I love a good look for less find!

three dimensional

I haven't done many beauty product posts on my blog. Mostly because I am such a creature of routine when it comes to makeup. I've been wearing the same products for years! A local mom just started her Younique business and she contacted me to see if I would be interested in trying a product. I've heard of Younique but hadn't tried any of their products... and honestly, the 3D mascara definitely intrigued me!

younique

Teresa sent me the Moodstruck 3D Fiber Lashes to try out and gave me the following tips for application:

"With our mascara application is key! Make sure to use less gel and less fibers, and build "layers" versus trying to achieve the look with one coat. The mascara is build able so use less, just more coats and make sure to work the gel in your lashes. Apply fibers beginning at mid-lash past lash ends.
example: gel, fibers, gel. Let sit for 30 seconds then repeat, gel, fibers, gel again until desired volume has been achieved!

For curling your lashes: some ladies have found that they like using a blow dryer on medium heat after the final step to naturally curl their lashes up...it also may blow away any loose fibers."

I was so excited to try it that I didn't pay enough attention to her instructions so I think I would have gotten even better results by applying in layers like Teresa suggested. But I love how my lashes turned out! They are darker and much fuller than the before picture.

3d mascara, product review

I am a big fan of eye makeup because it instantly makes me look bright eyed and awake {even if this tired momma isn't feeling it} so I'm excited to continue to use the 3D mascara! My husband and daughters have the most beautiful natural eyelashes so I've got competition in my household!

what i wore

#whatiwore | an instagram roundup

On Friday, I got this sweater in the mail and I immediately changed into it for pizza night. On Saturday morning, I was having one of those "I don't have anything to wear" moments. I literally sat in the floor in my closet and just stared at that sweater until I got up put it on with my favorite vest and pink Converses. I also own the sweater in a pretty light pink shade because it's just that wonderful. It fits just a little bit oversized {I'm wearing a size small for reference} and the lace detail makes it so feminine. So when you don't know what to wear, just wear what you love... even if you wore it yesterday.

stay bright

I absolutely love bright colors and this top is no exception! It's literally as bright as a pink highlighter and I love it! So to neutralize the brightness so that it wasn't too overwhelming, I kept all of my accessories very neutral and simple for this Valentine's Day look. I layered up two of my favorite necklaces which is one of my favorite ways to wear my necklaces right now. Since it was absolutely freezing, I wore my over the knee boots with my camel pea coat to stay warm. My Longchamp tote is my go-to because hello, it's black AND brown so that literally means that it goes with absolutely everything. Oh and this top is my first Elsa from Lilly Pulitzer and I am fan! It's lightweight enough to wear during the summer with shorts and you can still be layered up during the cooler months to keep your color palette bright. Wearing bright, happy colors literally lifts my mood even when the weather outside isn't cooperating.

How do you style bright colors?
