jean queen

You can just call me the Jean Queen. I literally live in jeans! They are such a closet staple for me... and most of America. It's so important to find ones that fit well and last. I have a tendency to stick with darker washes because I find them to be the most slimming style for me. But every once in awhile, I get a little crazy and try a new wash. These gorgeous Seven For All Mankind Jeans were an absolute steal from Fevrie! These jeans can go for at least $200 and Fevrie retailed them for about $60! Such a good deal.

Have you heard of Fevrie?
"Fevrie is a fashion house that speaks to the modern woman. Inspired by the French style and culture, the brand embodies a true collaboration between the sophistication of Europe and the lively spirit of America. Intertwining the two creates the ultimate tie between success and fun!"

They provide great authentic brands such as Free People, Ralph Lauren, Michael Kors, and so much more for just a fraction of a price. Think of them as your online department store outlet. Fevrie wants to help everyone get fabulous for a more affordable price which I love! I am all about style on a budget and fashion should be affordable!

These jeans are a straight leg cut with a mommy must have mid-rise. I paired them with a striped tunic, tassel clutch, leopard pumps, and a pink statement necklace. I am loving this combination for spring! I truly feel like the Jean Queen in this outfit!

three dimensional

I haven't done many beauty product posts on my blog. Mostly because I am such a creature of routine when it comes to makeup. I've been wearing the same products for years! A local mom just started her Younique business and she contacted me to see if I would be interested in trying a product. I've heard of Younique but hadn't tried any of their products... and honestly, the 3D mascara definitely intrigued me!

Teresa sent me the Moodstruck 3D Fiber Lashes to try out and gave me the following tips for application:

"With our mascara application is key! Make sure to use less gel and less fibers, and build "layers" versus trying to achieve the look with one coat. The mascara is build able so use less, just more coats and make sure to work the gel in your lashes. Apply fibers beginning at mid-lash past lash ends.
example: gel, fibers, gel. Let sit for 30 seconds then repeat, gel, fibers, gel again until desired volume has been achieved!

For curling your lashes: some ladies have found that they like using a blow dryer on medium heat after the final step to naturally curl their lashes up...it also may blow away any loose fibers."

I was so excited to try it that I didn't pay enough attention to her instructions so I think I would have gotten even better results by applying in layers like Teresa suggested. But I love how my lashes turned out! They are darker and much fuller than the before picture.

3d mascara, product review

I am a big fan of eye makeup because it instantly makes me look bright eyed and awake {even if this tired momma isn't feeling it} so I'm excited to continue to use the 3D mascara! My husband and daughters have the most beautiful natural eyelashes so I've got competition in my household!

plaid for you

What's better than supporting small businesses? Supporting local small business is the absolute best. Today, I am so excited to be sharing another collaboration with Nella Boutique! The beautiful owners of this local boutique are sweet friends of mine and they are amazing women!

I received this gorgeous plaid for you cardigan to style and it's just too perfect for spring! I made it winter friendly by adding riding boots but it would be so perfect with sandals during warmer weather too. Such a versatile piece! But what I love the most about this cardigan {besides the way it drapes in the front because I love that, too} are the colors in this plaid print! Y'all know that I am the biggest fan of the color pink and this plaid has not one but two shades of pink in it! I added tan and gold accessories... plus another pop of pink to complete the look. I prefer keeping the rest of my outfit pretty neutral when I have such a statement piece like this cardigan or a bright pop of color.

Nella Boutique is offering my readers 10% off of their order with the code EMILY10! Be sure to check out their boutique and all of the adorable new arrivals! I am loving the denim tunic, fringe cardi, and the pink sheath dress!

spring cheat sheet + thredUP

Anyone else craving spring?! Winter isn't too bad for a few weeks but I'm over it now. Like I said yesterday, I don't like wearing coats so winter just isn't for me. You might have also noticed that I have been wearing pops of pink pretty much every single day even though I typically wear neutrals during the winter. Today, I am bringing you my cheat sheet for transitioning your wardrobe into spring!

To help me with this cheat sheet, I've teamed up with thredUP! What's thredUp? thredUP is the easiest way to save money on great women's and kids' clothing brands and sell clothes for cash. It's like a consignment store, but simpler. On thredUP you can refresh your entire wardrobe online without ever leaving your house. If you've followed my blog for awhile, you know that I started this whole outfit posting business with almost only thrifted pieces during a time when I didn't have much money to spend on clothing or accessories.

So here's my cheat sheet for transitioning into spring...

1. Add some color! I chose these bright pink accessories from thredUP to really make a statement. Start adding color into your winter wardrobe to make transitioning into spring a breeze. I tied my scarf onto my black tote for instant pop of color. Not a fan of pink? Try lavender, turquoise, or yellow!

2. Lightweight sweaters. This sweater from J. Crew is lightweight enough to wear alone during the spring but for winter it still needs a layer on top. Look for pieces that you can wear now and later.

3. Incorporate your winter favorites into your spring wardrobe. These ankle boots are so comfortable so I can see myself moving them into spring with a swing dress!

4. White pants. Y'all, you can wear all white year! At least I do! White pants instantly brighten up your look. The brighter, the better.

5. Denim jackets. I tend to only bring mine out in the spring and fall but denim jackets are perfect for layering with. Layer now or wear it with a flowy floral tank when the weather warms up.

initially obsessed

Today, I am sharing another small business that I love with y'all! When I was a classroom teacher, I met Julie when she was a first year teacher. I always loved her peppy personality and sweet spirit. Since then I have left the classroom and she has changed schools but we've stayed connected via social media. A couple of months ago she decided to start her own business called Initially Obsessed while being a wife, mother, and teacher! She specializes in decals and monograms. Anything from t-shirts, bags, lunch boxes, notebooks, cups, and so much more! If you can dream it, she can make it.

I shared with her several tees from Pinterest that I was loving and she made this awesome t-shirt pictured below come to life for me! I Can't Adult Today. Anyone else know the feeling?! Thankfully there's Jesus and coffee to get me through!

Julie created not only an adorable tee but she also made me the perfect clipboard/notebook combo to keep me organized! So if you need a custom decal or monogram, Julie is definitely your girl and is so great to work with! Be sure to like and follow along with her business on Facebook and Instagram.

6d hair ties

Even with short hair, I always keep a hair tie on hand {or around my wrist} just in case I need to pull my hair back. 6D Hair Ties sent me a package of tons of fun hair ties to get my hair out of my face and they are super cute! I was able to make a custom hair tie with the logo of the non-profit after school program I work at on them. I plan to share them with my co-workers! You can literally customize them however you want for any occasion. I also received gold + silver headband ties that are perfect for the gym or really anytime. Be sure to check out all of their fun options!
