Currently Loving .205

nc blogger, bohoblu, north carolina blogger, style on a budget, what to wear for fall, fall outfit ideas
Happy Friday! I hope you have had a great week! This has been a crazy week, especially thanks for the remnants of Hurricane Zeta that came through yesterday morning. School and work was cancelled then we lost our power for a few hours. Thankfully, there wasn't any damage at our house and we stayed safe. This has been such a crazy year for hurricanes!

Today, I'm sharing my weekly roundup of what I'm Currently Loving! I keep my favorite clothing items on a rack in my bedroom and I was looking at the color palette yesterday while I was putting away some clean laundry. My fall palette is definitely black, cream, gray, gold, and leopard! These week's picks definitely reflect my fall color palette for sure!

Which of this week's picks is your favorite?!

1. C R E A M  S W E A T E R | Yes, I added another cream sweater to my closet! I absolutely love the cozy fabric of this one and the fit. I sized up for an even more relaxed fit. I can't wait to wear this sweater this weekend! Use my code EMILY15 to save 15% at BohoBlu!

2. N E C K L A C E | Another dainty gold necklace to add to my wish list! Literally all I wear on a regular basis are simple gold necklaces. I love to layer them!

3. B O O T S | These budget friendly boots are so cute! If you are looking for an affordable pair of ankle boots to wear this fall and winter, these look perfect. This color is so versatile!

4. D R E S S | Last fall/winter, I bought a top in a similar material and metallic design and it became my go-to, especially during the holiday season. The metallic details immediately make it feel so festive! I think I wore that top to every single holiday celebration last year! This dress would be so cute paired with ankle boots, like the ones above.

5. H A I R  T I E | Want to jazz up a basic outfit? Add a fun hair accessory! I am loving this animal print hair tie. It's so cute!

6. S L I P P E R S | Speaking of animal print, who else needs these cozy slippers?! I am adding these to my wish list because who doesn't need a cozy pair of animal print slippers!

7. S K I R T | Hello, polka dots! I have a sweatshirt in this golden polka dot print and I love it! I love how this outfit is styled with a sweater and ankle boots. Totally saving this for inspiration!

8. T A U P E  S W E A T E R | It's sweater season! I can't get enough cozy sweaters and I am loving this one! It would be so cute styled with a pair of high waisted jeans, front tuck it, and add your favorite boots. Use my code EMILY15 to save 15% off at BohoBlu!

Also, this week I have a bonus pick! BohoBlu is now offering a men's line, BohoBlu For Your Boo! My husband got the Patrick Top and he is a big fan! He loves the quality, the style, and the fit so much. He found this shirt to fit true to size and he's planning to wear it with his favorite pair of jeans this weekend. I'm so excited that one of my favorite shops is now a place to shop for my husband, too!

Thank you so much for stopping by! I hope you have a great weekend!

Front Porch Makeover

Hey y'all! I hope you are having a wonderful week so far! Today, is all about my recent front porch makeover! Here is what our front porch looked like before, for reference:

I shared bits and pieces about this makeover randomly here on the blog. But in case you missed it, this is how it all got started: we had water damage on our front porch roof. We had to get it repaired and after we did that, we needed a new light on our front porch. Needing a new light led us to deciding to get a fan for the front porch. Well, installing a ceiling fan (this is the ceiling fan I picked) isn't simple so we asked our contractor to come back out to install it for us, which then led to me deciding that I definitely wanted to add a storm door. I have always wanted a storm door because the front of our house doesn't get much light downstairs because of our garage. The storm door install led us to changing out our locks and handles to accommodate the door but then when it was time to install the door, new framing needed to be added by our contractor to be able to do the installation. It all ended up being a little more work and money than we had originally anticipated because all we were really planning to do was fix the roof!

After all of the upgrades were completed, it was time to paint the front door. As you saw above, my door was already pink. I've had a pink front door for the past three years or so but I have been wanted to change up the color for awhile. I wanted something lighter and a more neutral pink. The process of selecting a front door color was so complicated! Well, I made it complicated, lol. I had such a hard time making a decision on which color to go with because I didn't want to have to redo it (well, I didn't want Josh to have to redo it). Also, we were painting our new storm door the same color as the door so I really didn't want to have to repaint a new door either. After weeks of going back and forth, I chose a color. Josh painted it on a Friday evening and by Saturday morning, I was always back at Lowe's choosing a new paint color. The first color just didn't feel right. The color I needed up with was Coral Perfection and we got the HGTV HOME by Sherwim-Williams Weathershield paint. I am so happy with the color and I loved it so much that we also painted the door inside of the garage the same color! We are also planning to change up the door color of our storage building in the backyard so that all of our exterior doors are the same color.

Coral Perfection was the perfect color and exactly what I was envisioning when I wanted to change up the shade of our pink front door. I also really love the matching storm door! My wreath is from last year but this budget friendly one is super similar.

While we were at, we changed our pillows. The spotted pillows are actually just covers over the other floral ones that I already had on the porch. I had the covers made by an Etsy creator and I would highly recommend her shop! The black pillows are super inexpensive pillows that I found online at Walmart. I always spray my outdoor pillows and rugs with this water shield spray to keep them looking new!

Also, a front porch makeover wouldn't be complete without a new doormat! Isn't this "Yay! You're here!" mat super cute?! I love it! The black and white layering mat is also reversible! The other side of it has a black pattern. I found both of these cute rugs for $13 each!

My mom recently gave me some new plants so I painted the pots the same color as the door to help bring everything together. She also gave me the flower pot stands and I gave them a fresh coat of white paint to bring them back to life. It's amazing what a little paint can do!

I am so incredibly happy with how this front porch makeover turned out! This space just makes me smile and I know I will be spending even more time in my rocking chair now that the space has been spruced up. Thank you so much for visiting! I hope you have a great day!

Happy Friday! I hope you have had a great week! How are we already close to the end of October?! My kids had to remind me yesterday that it's almost Halloween and I totally have no idea what we will be doing to celebrate. Are y'all trick or treating this year?! Thankfully, we already have costumes on hand, thanks to a very successful Goodwill run. After spending so much money on brand new costumes that past few years, we literally spent $6 on two costumes for the girls this year! We have so many dress up items that even if they don't like those costumes, they have plenty other things to choose from. If you are needing to find costumes or pieces for a costume, be sure to check the thrift stores!

Today, I'm sharing my weekly roundup of what I'm Currently Loving and this week's picks include not one, not two, but three animal print items! I rarely go a day without wearing animal print of some sort and I definitely don't see that changing anytime soon!

Which of this week's picks is your favorite?!

1. J A C K E T | Throw on this jacket and you will instantly feel fierce! I love this relaxed yet still put together take on a black blazer. I'm planning to wear mine layered over a tee with jeans and ankle boots. I sized up one size for a more relaxed fit! Use my code EMILY15 to save 15% off your order at BohoBlu!

2. B O O T S | Speaking of fierce, check out these incredible leopard print boots! I have a similar pair from last fall/winter and I absolutely love mine. I love creating an all black outfit and then adding leopard print boots to really make a statement!

3. J E A N S | These jeans are on my wish list! I have actually never tried the vintage fit but I think I would really love them. A high waisted jean is always my favorite! I also love the wash of this pair as well as the hem. A great alternative to a skinny jean! This style doesn't go on sale very often but it's currently 25% off!

4. H E A D B A N D | I already own and love this headband. This brand is my very favorite for headbands that are comfortable to wear all day long. They never hurt behind my ears! I need to order a second one of this print because my oldest daughter keeps stealing it from me!

5. B A G | I just got this belt bag in the mail this week and I know I am going to get so much use out of it. It's the perfect size to hold my small wallet, phone, lip gloss, lotion, and of course, my mask. I carried it with a white button down and denim on Wednesday but it's also a great bag to pair with your workout clothes. It comes it other colors as well but the black was my favorite!

6. S W E A T E R | This is another item that I already own and absolutely love. I wore this cardigan buttoned up with jeans and combat boots last weekend. The cardigan is excellent quality and I 100% recommend it! I machine washed it on gentle then laid it to dry and it looks as good as new. I personally size up one size for a more relaxed kind of fit.

7. H A T | When we were in the High Country last weekend, I realized how much I really need a hat for cold weather! My ears absolutely froze! I am loving this beanie style. Adding this to my cart!

8. D R E S S | How fun is this dress?! I am loving the mix of floral and leopard together. I would style this dress with ankle boots and a denim jacket (which is always my go-to for styling dresses in the fall)! Use my code EMILY15 to save 15% off your order at BohoBlu!

Thank you so much for stopping by! I hope you have a great weekend!

High Country Day Trip

Hey y'all and Happy Wednesday! Today, I'm sharing all about our day trip to the High Country of North Carolina. This past Saturday, we decided to spend the day in the mountains, just like we did the same weekend last October. The weather was perfect for a mountain adventure and it's peak leaf season!

Our first stop was for a visiting to The Blowing Rock. We had been here before but we weren't totally prepared for just how cold it was going to be at 8:30am when we stepped out of the car into the mountain air! It was so cold. In the 30s and windy! Our visit was short but the views were incredible. There is a fee to go out on the outdoor trails but if you have never been, I would definitely recommend going at least once. It's actually North Carolina's oldest travel attraction!

Our next stop was for coffee! We went to downtown Blowing Rock to hunt for a good cup of coffee at a local coffee shop. It was around 9:30am and most of the downtown area was still closed at that time but we did find one coffee shop open. Josh grabbed a latte for me at Bald Guy Brew and then we let the girls play at the playground in the middle of the downtown area. They always look forward to playing there and I am definitely going to be sad when they stop asking to play there!

S U N G L A S S E S | N E C K L A C E

After some playtime, we decided to find something to eat. Our plan was to find some brunch in Boone but everything had a super long wait. We quickly discovered that a lot of people were spending their Saturday in the mountains! So, we ended up going to The Cardinal, just like we did on our last visit to the High Country. Due to COVID, they only had outdoor patio seating and it was still pretty cold outside but we made it work. We were hungry and wanted to maximize our time so we froze a little for a good meal!

Next, we drove down the road to Grandfather Mountain Vineyard and Winery, which is located in Banner Elk, North Carolina. We have been to this vineyard three times before and it's one of my all time favorites that I have ever visited. The views are gorgeous and the wine is amazing, too! The girls love playing in the creek and hiking with us through the vineyard. This place is a must see!

We were all over High Country on this day trip because after the vineyard, we headed to Blowing Rock to get treats from Blue Deer Cookies. We discovered this place a couple of years ago and we always have to go back when we are in town! They have delicious cookies, ice cream, and the best combination, an ice cream cookie sandwich! We tried lots of fun flavor combinations, including oatmeal with apple pie ice cream! So delicious! If you are ever in the area, you definitely need to check this place out for a treat!

We braved the traffic and got back on the road, this time towards Linville Falls. We decided to go to another winery that we love, Linville Falls Winery, which is located in Newland, North Carolina. This was a beautiful drive down the Blue Ridge Parkway from Blowing Rock. At this winery, there's also a Christmas tree farm. How fun would it be to do a wine tasting and pick out a Christmas tree all of the same spot?! We discovered this winery about five years ago when we came to Linville Falls for my 30th birthday and now we always try to make a stop. We love their dry red wines!

Our last time of the day was a short hike to see the Linville Falls. If you are in the High Country area and you are looking for a great hike for the family, I highly recommend this one. It's not long or strenuous and it ends with a gorgeous view of the falls!

Here's to many more adventures! I hope y'all have a great day!

Currently Loving .203

Happy Friday, y'all! I hope you've had a great week! With fall weather finally here, I am really wanted to head to the mountains, even if just for a day trip. A couple of weeks ago, one of my friends asked me for a recommendation for a day trip and I immediately knew exactly where to tell her to go! We did a High Country Day Trip last fall and it was so much fun. After seeing her pictures from the places that I recommended, now I want to go back. ASAP! Day trips are always so much fun, especially if you don't have the time or money to be able to stay somewhere overnight.

Today, I'm sharing my weekly roundup of what I'm Currently Loving! Most of this week's picks are items that are on my personal wish list right now. I also found four really great picks from one of my favorite budget friendly places to shop... Target, of course!

style on a budget, madewell, madewell sale, target, target finds, fall fashion, mom style, what to wear for fall

Which of this week's picks is your favorite?!

1. B O O T S | These boots are totally out of my comfort zone but I am absolutely loving this style! I just got this budget friendly pair in the mail and I would say stick with your true size. They are so comfortable and I'm excited to stretch myself style wise to create looks with them. This pair of boots is a great way to try this style without spending a ton of money!

2. P U L L O V E R | During, the fall and winter, give me all of the cozy pieces! I don't like to be cold so having great sweatshirts and pullovers in my closet is a definite must for me. I am loving this classic pullover that would pair well with jeans or leggings!

3. J E A N S | Most of my denim is from Madewell but if that is out of your personal budget, I have also found really great luck finding good jeans at Target. This cute pair is under $20! I think they would be great paired with a pair of ankle boots and a sweater front tucked.

4. N E C K L A C E | I really love coin necklaces and this one is no exception. Madewell jewelry is my favorite because it stays looking new, even after lots of wear!

5. B A G | I have a black tote bag but I don't own a black crossbody. This one is one my wish list! I am loving the strap and I also love that you can change it out to fit your mood or outfit.

6. P A J A M A S | If you buy anything from this week's roundup, let it be these affordable pajamas! They are so incredibly soft and so comfy. You will thank me later!

7. C A R D I G A N | This week's picks just wouldn't be complete without animal print! I am loving cardigans buttoned up and worn as a sweater plus this one is leopard. Also, it's currently on sale, too! This is such a cute piece that would work casually with jeans or dressed for work, too. So cute!

8. S H I R T | I saw a super similar shirt at Madewell that I loved but the price tag was high. This $20 shirt is such a great, budget friendly option to get the look for less! It comes in this light brown color, a solid pink, and lots of plaid options. Perfect for leggings!

Thank you so much for visiting! I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
