My Budget Friendly Skincare Routine

beauty on a budget, north carolina blogger, skincare routine, beauty finds

Hey y'all! I hope you all had a great weekend! Today's post is all about skincare. Back in January, my skin was awful. I couldn't tell if it was just the weather causing the dryness and breakouts or if something I was using on my face was the culprit. I also felt like my makeup wasn't going on like it used to. If your skin isn't happy, your makeup definitely won't look as good either. So, I threw out pretty much everything in my old skincare routine and started fresh! My new skincare regimen started with the great moisturizer hunt of 2018 that I shared on this post. Keeping reading today to see which of those moisturizers made the cut and to see what else I added in to my beauty friendly skincare routine. Yes, everything is budget friendly which makes it even better!

But before I get started, I do want to note that my skin is normal to dry and fairly sensitive. This is a quick summary of my routine and then I'll share more details about each product and how I use them:

Nighttime Routine | micellar cleansing water, moisturizing cold cream cleanser, serum, eye repair cream, moisturizer, and facial spray.

Morning Routine | rinse face with water, serum, moisturizer, and facial spray after applying makeup.

I have been using this micellar water for a few months now and it's my go-to for removing my makeup. I add a little bit to a cotton round and it does an excellent job removing my makeup. I wear quite a bit of eye makeup and it gets it off without irritating my eyes. No matter how tired I am at night, I always take off my makeup and this product makes it easy.

This cleanser is also a part of my nighttime routine. After I remove my makeup with the micellar water, I follow up with this moisturizing cleanser. It does a great job of leaving my skin feeling super clean and removes any makeup that I might have missed.

I shared this serum about a month ago in my most recent beauty haul post. After using it twice a day for a month, I can definitely say that it brightens and tightens your skin, just as it says it does. Plus, it smells light freshly cut roses! I just use a small drop all over my face at night and in the morning before applying my moisturizer.

This might be the first eye cream that I have ever purchased and I don't know why! I have always struggled with dark circles and puffiness under my eyes. I've been using this eye repair cream for three weeks and I can already tell a difference. After the first couple of times that I used it, I could already notice that the puffiness had gone down. So far, I am loving this! I apply a small amount to my fingertip and gently pat it underneath my eyes. I use this after my serum and before my moisturizer every night.

The winner of my favorite moisturizer is this renewing collagen and elastin moisturizer! I typically buy this at Walmart and it's so cheap! I am on my second container since February and I love this product so much. I actually use it as all-over moisturizer because I love the texture and how it makes my skin feel. I use this every morning and every night.

I discovered this facial spray back in January and it's been a steady part of my skincare routine ever since. I love using the rosewater scent as a setting spray after I put my makeup on and I also use it to refresh my makeup during the day. I love the lavender scent to spray on my face after I moisturize at night. I think this product is also going to be great for keeping my skin feeling hydrated during the summer while we are spending time outdoors in the sunshine.

Currently Loving

style on a budget, north carolna blogger, mom blogger, casual style, what to buy for spring

Happy Friday! I hope you've had a great week! This week has been such a busy one for me and it's also been the second week in a row that my husband has been traveling for work. I am so incredibly happy to have him back home! Today, I'm sharing my weekly roundup of what I'm currently loving. So many of this week's picks I already own or they are on their way to me.

Which of this week's picks is your favorite?!

1. Sandals | I remember seeing these sandals last year but they sold out in the rose gold color before I could get a pair. They are such a cute sandal!

2. Chambray Shirt | Chambray is a closet staple and so timeless. A chambray shirt will never go out of style! This one is at the top of my wish list! I think it would be so cute with white denim.

3. Peplum Top | I love peplum tops that have a loose, relaxed fit. I ordered this one recently and I can't wait for it to arrive in my mailbox!

4. Dress | Most of the time before I purchase anything, I think about it for a little while. I rarely impulse shop but this dress is a different story. As soon as I saw it on the website, I ordered it immediately because it's just so pretty. It's also under $30!

5. Silk Bandana | I have been hunting for a pink silk scarf or bandana to wear as a head wrap this summer. I ordered this one and I can't wait to wear it!

6. Pink Tank | I love the button front detail on this tank! It would be perfect layered underneath a denim jacket or a cardigan this spring.

7. Bracelet | I just got this bracelet in the mail and it's so pretty! I love the dainty style and it matches the rest of my arm party perfectly. Alex and Ani makes the best bracelets!

8. Tote Bag | If you are looking for a great, budget friendly tote bag for spring and summer, this one is it! The great neutral colors will go with all of your outfits. Also, it would be super cute with a silk scarf tied onto for a pop of color!

Thank you so much for stopping by! Have a great weekend!

Spring Styling With Nickel & Suede

nickel and suede leather earrings, spring outfit, mom style, style on a budget, north carolina blogger, leather earrings

Hey y'all! I hope you're having a great week! Today, I'm planning an outfit all around a pair of really great earrings. Nickel & Suede sent me this gorgeous pair of leather earrings and I know they are going to become my new favorite pair!

I personally discovered Nickel & Suede a couple of years ago. I distinctly remember scrolling through Instagram in the car rider pickup line and this pair of earrings someone was wearing caught my eye. I looked into wear I could get them for myself and that led me to Nickel & Suede. I have been a long-time fan of large earrings but I have never really been able to wear them because heavy earrings hurt my ears. Well, these earrings are game changers! They are so lightweight and unbelievably comfortable to wear. You literally forget you are even wearing any earrings because they are so light!

I styled a spring outfit all around these great earrings. The color I chose is called champagne shimmer and it's the prettiest understated metallic color. A great color that will literally go with everything! Also, I always get a size medium in my Nickel & Suede earrings. I think they are the perfect size, especially for everyday wear! I paired my new earrings with my new cropped linen pants, a basic v-neck tee, my denim jacket, and platform mules. I am planning to wear this look asap!

Instagram Roundup

instagram roundup, style on a budget, beauty finds, spring style, what to wear for spring, north carolina blogger, mom style

Happy Wednesday! Last week, I mentioned how I feel like I always talk about the weather here on the blog and in "real life" too. I definitely *almost* started this post discussing how it rained the past two days and I loved it. So, I guess I still ended up talking about the weather anyways, lol. But really, I love spring and April showers are the best kind.

Today, I'm sharing my latest Instagram roundup, some of my latest springtime outfits and my most favorite lipstick of all-time (it's really the best)!

I had taken my kids to school in pajamas at least two days last week so I just needed to get it together. I felt so put together and still comfortable in this outfit. I love this midi skirt!

A little chambray shirt dress is a great basic for your wardrobe. It can be dressed up with espadrilles and a fun bag or simply wear it with sandals for a easy throw on and go look.

How beautiful is this top?! I typically don't buy many "fancy" tops but I had to have this one. I absolutely love the lace details!

This top is another classic. You just can't go wrong with gingham! I paired it with my favorite denim for a PTO meeting and errands last week.

Is this not the happiest skirt of all time?! It also has pockets! Since it has so much color going on, I decided to keep the rest of the look neutral to balance out the look.

These shoes are my current favorite pair of heels! I seriously can't get over how comfortable they are and they are also really easy to walk in.

And last but not least, my most favorite lip stick of probably all-time! This is seriously the prettiest color. The shade is called "backtalk" and I'm going to order a second one so I can have one in my bathroom and one in my purse. The formula is also long lasting and makes my lips feel moisturized!

Thank you so much for stopping by! I hope you have a wonderful day!

Budget Friendly Finds From Walmart

Hey y'all! I hope your week is off to a great start! No, you didn't misread the title of this post. Today, I'm sharing my first roundup of budget friendly finds from... Walmart! Truth be told, Walmart isn't my favorite place to shop. Target will always be my number one. However, I live in a small town and the nearest Target is about 25 minutes away. But, we do have a Walmart! The one in my town is actually not that bad (especially compared to the dozen others I have been in). I always do my grocery shopping there on Monday mornings and I have been noticing new (and better) things in the clothing department as a I pass by. So, I thought it would be fun to share some of my favorite (super) budget friendly finds here on the blog. I hope this can become I share here on a month basis if Walmart cooperates and keeps introducing great items. So, here we go...

I have always had a thing for polka dots so I had to try this adorable top on. The fit is true to size and I took this home with me. I love it!

How pretty is this reversible tote?! I was unable to find it online but you can definitely find it in your local store. The color is more of a rose gold in person!

Seven dollar sandals?! These only come in whole sizes so the nine was perfect for me (I typically wear a size 8.5). I love the bow detail and they comes in lots of colors!

I absolutely loved this top and I would have bought it if I didn't already own one that is super similar. Plus, it's under $13! I am trying on a size small and I love the fit. I also love these shorts! Such a great length and they come in multiple colors. I really love the distressed white pair! I'm typically between a 4 and 6 in shorts but I found the 6 to be the most comfortable. I don't like my shorts (or really anything) to be too tight.

These shoes are almost identical to the ones I already own from Target but they are less expensive. Run to your closest Walmart and scoop these up!

A swing dress is a closet staple for sure. This $10 dress is so soft and the fit is true to size. It also comes in lots of great colors.

Who knew Walmart started carrying adorable, mom friendly suits?! I tried both of these on and I loved them both. The pink one fits true to size (the small worked for me). The striped one isn't online but it's the No Boundaries brand in store.

This is a go-to look for me during the spring and summer. I love to throw on a comfy tee and denim shorts. You can grab both of these pieces for a little over $20. Such a great deal! I sized up to a medium in the tee to do the front tuck or to knot it.
