Currently Loving

style on a budget, currently loving, north carolina blogger, what to buy for spring, what to buy for summer, spring outfits, summer style
Happy Friday! I hope you've had a great week! We are headed out of town again this weekend but this time we are Ocean Isle Beach bound! The beach is my happy place and I can literally just sit on the beach for the hours doing absolutely nothing. I love it! I'm so ready for some sunshine, salty air, and relaxation! This is actually a little getaway we planned for Olivia's birthday. I mean, when you're seven year old asks to go to the beach for her birthday, you have to say yes! It's definitely a win win for whole family. Such a great way to celebrate!

Today, I'm sharing my weekly roundup of what I'm currently loving. Basically this week's roundup is a collection of neutrals and I love it! I used to wear lots of bold colors, especially during the summer but my closet functions so much better with mostly neutrals. I like to add in pops of color (specifically the color pink) with my accessories most of the time.

Which of this week's picks is your favorite?!

1. T E E | I wish I had this tee for our trip to the beach this weekend because I am totally a beach bum. Our goal is to retire at the beach one day!

2. C U F F | I have and love this adorable cuff. I love the dainty style and the cute shells. It's also currently on sale!

3. L E O P A R D  T O P | I am really loving leopard for spring and summer! I feel like it's usually a fall and winter print but I totally love wearing leopard all year round. This top would be so cute paired with denim and sandals!

4. B A G | I just can't stop loving straw bags! How cute is this one?! I love the shape and the design. Such a great spring and summer bag!

5. S H O R T S | All of the heart eyes for these polka dot shorts. I love everything about them!

6. T A N K | I am going to try out this eight dollar tank because I am needed to update my tank tops in my closet. This one also comes in black. I think it's such a flattering style!

7. S A N D A L S | I am currently really loving gold sandals and this pair is no exception! I love the wrap detail, too! Gold sandals are such a comfortable way to dress up a look.

8. D R E S S | How many little black dresses is too many?! I really love this under $20 one! It looks like such a comfy option to wear on warm days.

Thank you so much for visiting! I hope you have a great weekend!

Charleston Day Trip

Hey y'all! If you follow me over on Instagram, then you know that we did some adventuring in downtown Charleston last weekend. My father-in-law lives less than 45 minutes from downtown Charleston so we love to go explore the area when we are visiting him. A lot of our adventures in Charleston were cost free. Yes, you can go to downtown Charleston, spend a few hours, and spend very little money. I am a super budget conscious person so before we go anywhere, I always Google things to do in the area that are free or low cost. I can almost always find a great comprehensive list of free/cheap things to do in pretty much any city! You can totally travel and experience new things on a small budget. I really don't shop when I travel, I save my spending money to try new food and drinks in the place we are visiting. I rarely buy anything else!

Our day did cost a little bit of money because we got ice cream, drinks, and lunch during our visit. But we are always smart when dining out. We almost always share a plate, especially when we are traveling. Sharing helps us not get overly full or we don't have to worry about waiting food. I don't like wasting anything, especially food! Also, it's just so much cheaper! Sometimes we will get two appetizers so that we can try different things, especially if it's a place to never eaten at before.

The first place on the agenda was Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams. I had seen a few other people post about this ice cream shop on Instagram so I started following their page a few months ago. The flavors sounded incredible and let me tell you, it didn’t disappoint! We got lucky and got there when no one else was in the shop. I was surprised because I had heard so many other people online say that there’s usually a line out the door and a long wait. We were able to sample lots of different delicious flavors. I picked Gooey Butter Cake and it was so good!

Our next stop was to get a drink at The Skinny Dip. I was craving frosé because it was so good the last time we visited! This place was seriously so Instagrammable. There's a store downstairs and upstairs is a coffee and wine bar (plus beer). We love everything about it! For lunch, we went back to a restaurant called The Rarebit on King Street, which was just a few blocks down the street from The Skinny Dip. We found out about this restaurant by chatting with the barista at The Skinny Dip the last time we were here. Asking locals where to go eat, is often how we find the best places! We went back there for the amazing Moscow Mules. They are made with their own house made ginger beer. So delicious! We the special which was fish and grits. Our food was amazing and I would definitely recommend The Rarebit!

As far as shopping goes, I really didn't do any at all, just a little window shopping as we passed by stores. But really, anything you are looking for, you can find it on King Street! So many great stores from Free People to small shops. If you are looking to do some serious shopping (and eating/drinking), then Chalreston is the place for you!

You don't have to look very hard to find all of the Southern charm that Charleston has to offer. Just simply look around and you'll see it! We love to check out the amazing architecture and historical spots on Rainbow Row (check out this link for more about this area; such great information for your own free, self-guided tour). Since we were being budget conscious, we did our own walking tour but can get guided tours in a horse drawn carriage! We have been here so many times but I feel like there is always just so much to see. They also have ghost tours as well and we did one of those awhile back. Charleston is just such a beautiful city!

We always park in a public parking garage close to Waterfront Park. It's so much easier than worrying about the metered parking on the street and it's pretty inexpensive. It's a dollar per half hour.  We went to Waterfront Park first to see the fountains and walk on the pier. There's even swings on the pier to enjoy. My kids loved this area and we even brought their swimsuits so they could play in the fountains. They were really excited about this because it was close to 100 degrees on the day of our visit! It's such a fun area to take children... and it's free!

Like I mentioned above, it was super hot the day of our visit. When we came in December, the temperature was perfect at around 70 degrees but it was so foggy. During this visit it was so pretty and sunny but incredibly hot. A swimsuit is really the best option for beating the heat but since I wasn't going to be swimming in the fountain with the children (even though I did put my feet in the water to beat the heat), I had to come up with an alternate outfit. I wore my favorite denim mini skirt and this fun leopard tee with gold gladiator sandals (which are incredibly comfortable for walking around the city in). I love bringing leopard print into spring and summer by adding summery pieces, like this straw crossbody bag. An easy, comfortable, and stylish outfit for exploring Charleston!

Instagram Roundup

target style, style on a budget, mom style, north carolina blogger, summer outfits, what to wear for summer
Happy Wednesday! I hope you've had a great start to your week! Currently recovering from a fun weekend, working a twelve hour day yesterday, and prepping for a weekend at the beach. No complaints here! My oldest daughter takes her very first EOG test today. I remember when first started teaching, my first group of third graders took their first EOG in 2009. Ten years ago! It's so crazy that those kiddos I taught my first year are also just finished their first year of college. Time flies way to fast!

Today, I'm sharing my Instagram roundup, including outfits from last week and the weekend. Summer is definitely unofficially here!

How fun is this leopard tee?! I love it with shorts but it also wore it with a denim mini skirt over the weekend. The fit is true to size.

This is what I wore on Saturday to go canoeing with... alligators! I didn't last long because it was 100 degrees and alligators, lol.

My latest Ulta Beauty haul: I'll be sharing my thoughts on these products in my next Hair and Beauty Bag post. The concealer is already a long time favorite of mine!

Yes to summer sweaters and mom friendly shorts. The sweater is true to size and the shorts are too, unless you want a more fitted style then you could size down one size.

Currently Loving

style on a budget, currently loving, what to buy for summer, north carolina blogger, target finds
Happy Friday! Our season of traveling begins today as we hit the road to go to the Charleston area to visit Josh's dad for the long weekend. He lives in a small town outside of Charleston but I'm really hoping to squeeze in a visit to the downtown. It's one of my very favorite places to go! Such a beautiful city full of pretty things to see and fun things to do. You can see more from our last trip there in this blog post. I love Charleston!

Today, I'm sharing my weekly roundup of what I'm currently loving. I am kind of wishing I already owned some of these items so that I could pack them in my suitcase this weekend!

1. H E A D B A N D | I am still loving headbands and even more so now that the warm weather is here. I love adding one to my top knot to keep all of my hair out of my face. This one is super budget friendly which makes it even better!

2. T E E | My favorite tee comes in lots of colors and I love this gray one. The material is soft and great quality plus they wash up really well. The fit is true to size and it's currently only $5! At that price, I had to pick up a couple more, including the blush pink.

3. S T R A W  B A G | How cute is this bag?! I love the bucket style!

4. S A N D A L S | I am so tempted to get these sandals... even though I already own a pair of leopard sandals. This pair is so fun! I love the print!

5. B R A C E L E T | I took a peek at the new arrivals from Kendra Scott when I was working on a post earlier this week and immediately added this bracelet to my wish list. I love the layered look!

6. D R E S S | You just can't go wrong with a little black dress. I love the button detail down the front of this one! So cute!

7.  T O T E | This might be the most perfect solution to keep a light colored bag looking clean. It's also like two bags in one because the inside bag is removable!

8. S W I M S U I T | I love this polka dotted suit! I think I need it for our Puerto Rico trip next month. I love polka dots!

Thanks so much for visiting! I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
