Hey y'all! We spent the weekend at the beach for a much needed time of relaxation and fun. The beach is literally my happy place. I can just sit there for hours and just breathe. It's where I destress, refocus, and daydream. I just love the beach!
So a few weeks ago, I got a really rude comment on a blog post and I'm not going to lie, it hurt my feelings. It made me feel like I wasn't good enough to be doing this whole blogging thing. Words hurt, no matter the source or the motive behind them. I was stewing over those hurtful words, feeling like giving this all up when I went to check my e-mail and I had one from the company The Home T's sister brand, Doc Shorty sitting in my inbox. They were inquiring to see if I would share this Don't Quit Your Daydream t-shirt on my blog. I don't really believe in coincidences but I absolutely do believe in God and this was a God thing for sure. Just when I felt like quitting, He sent this reminder.
This blog is my daydream. Four years ago if you told me I would be working with some of my favorite brands and the cutest boutiques, I wouldn't believe you. I would have never dreamed of actually getting paid a little money for sharing what I love and getting to write at the same time. My dream is never to be a big fashion blogger with hundreds of thousands of followers. I honestly don't have the time right now to even try to do that because I am a mom and a teacher. I have a career that I absolutely love and I would never give it up. But my dream is to inspire others by sharing my style and encouraging women to wear what makes them feel good.
Don't quit your daydream... haters gonna hate but just shake it off and focus on your dreams.
P.S. 10% of the profits from this t-shirt will be donated to multiple sclerosis research!
Hey y'all! Today, let's chat about sunglasses. A pair of sunglasses is literally essential for me every single day. Even on some cloudy days, I'm still rockin' my sunglasses because the brightness still bothers my super sensitive eyes. I have always have a pair of sunglasses on hand!
I recently signed up for Endless Eyewear from Ditto. It's service that allows you to try (and buy) an endless rotation of designer eyewear, including prescription lenses. You create a "Ditto" of your face to capture every angle so you will be able to virtually try on any of the sunglasses on their site before choosing them to try in real-life at home. You can see if they will be too big for your face or the perfect shape. Since I'm not the best at taking care of my sunglasses, my first question when I signed up was what if I scratch them?! Ditto has me covered. Insurance for minor scratches and stretching is included within my membership.
The pair I'm wearing in this post is the Ray-Ban Large Aviator in Brushed Bronze/Mirror Blue. I have always wanted to try out a pair of Ray-Bans and this was the perfect way to do so. I wore them for a week, selected my next pair online, and when the new pair comes, I send back these. I love that you're never without sunglasses with this service.
You can sign up and try it out for free for one month. Go here to join and use my code EMILY.
Happy Tuesday! The sun is shining and I'm going to the beach in just four days so that's reason enough to smile. Today, I am excited to share a new brand from Condition Culture called TASSEL!
TASSEL bridges the gap between beauty and jewelry for pleasure seekers and free-spirited lovers of art, culture and fashion. The TASSEL girl is happy to observe, but never afraid to lead. Condition Culture Co-founder & Hairstylist Alexandra Litowitz, designed the TASSEL line to complement a myriad of looks, fashion personalities, and favorite trends. Inspired by the embellishments of the roaring 20's to worldly aura of today's modern bohemian, Alex's overall love for fashion and classic beauty pervades the brand.
I absolutely love the mix between the roaring 20's and boho style. I find myself gravitating towards boho chic pieces and I've always been a fan of 20's fashion. This brand is a beautiful blend of the two. In today's look, I've styled the King Street Headband and the Donya Cuff Bracelet for y'all. I'm in love with these headbands because I am having so much fun styling my short hair with them. I even plan to wear them to the gym to keep my hair out of my face! I also love the bold statement that the cuff makes. It gives you the look of a layered arm of bracelets without the work and the cuff easily just snaps right on. The quality of TASSEL is also amazing! I have never seen a better made headband or cuff. They also come in bags to keep them protected or to take them along with you when you travel.
See the whole collection here and use my code STYLE to save 20% off of your order when you checkout. You won't be disappointed by these gorgeous, statement pieces!
This past Saturday was recital day! An exciting day full of hairspray, sponge rollers, lipstick, costume changes, tons of pictures, mascara, lots of smiles, and two very, excited little girls who couldn't wait to take the stage. This was Julianna's third recital of her dance career. She took a dance combination class this year so she performed in three routines including ballet, tap, and jazz. She did such an amazing job! It was so fun getting to see her in her element doing what she loves. Saturday was Olivia's very first recital. This year she took a ballet and tumble class for preschoolers. She is just the cutest thing! I love watching the preschool classes perform. She also did a wonderful job performing in her two routines. They are already signed up for their classes for next year and I can't wait to see what the future brings for these tiny, beautiful dancers!
Happy Saturday! I typically don't do much blogging during the weekend because we are usually on the go but today I'm sharing an Instagram Roundup because I've been to busy to post the past two days. I've been helping with our PTO spring fling at Julianna's school and this weekend is recital weekend for both of the girls. We had dress rehearsal last night and I'm so excited to see them perform their routines today! Olivia is currently rocking the sponge rollers and it's just too precious.
Today is extra cloudy and kind of chilly for the month of May so it has me dreaming of sunny, warm beach days even more! We will be headed to the beach for our first trip of the summer during Memorial Day weekend and I am definitely counting down the days until our little vacay. I'm looking forward to some much needed fun and relaxation!
To prepare for our trip, I have created a list of eight of my beach essentials. I own some of these items and some of them are on my wish list for summertime. A Turkish towel can be used as a picnic blanket, tablecloth, or just to simply dry off. I really want to try one of them out! A straw hat is a must for a day at the beach to protect your face from the sun. A water bottle that keeps your drink cold is essential. I have to stay hydrated when I'm on the beach all day with my family. You also need a new cute suit and I love this one from Old Navy. The print and style of the top is too cute! A cover up that looks like a dress so that you can stop at your favorite spot for lunch and not worry about being in your swimsuit. A set of towel clips to keep your towel securely on your chair. Who doesn't get annoyed about your towel falling down on your chair?! These cute flamingo clips fix that problem for only six dollars. A bottle of sunscreen. Be sure to protect your skin and reapply often. This brand smells amazing and doesn't leave my skin feeling greasy. A beach bag to store all your beach gear or carry as a purse. This bag is at the top of my summertime wish list!
