Happy Wednesday! Today, I'm sharing my weekly roundup from outfits I've posted on Instagram. This roundup is full of swing dresses, monograms, and summertime comfort. Have a great day, y'all!
Last week was spent gripping the last little bit of summer break with white knuckles. I don't go back to work consistently until the end of September but with a school age child, summer is officially over for us. The days of sleeping in, staying in pajamas all day, randomly eating pizza on a Monday night past our bedtime, and daily adventures (we were headed to the zoo the day Julianna snapped these pictures) are coming to a close (except for Saturdays, of course). I have absolutely loved this summer with my daughters. It has been my favorite summer of all time! We traveled to Disney and we were able to enjoy three long weekends at the beach. What more could you ask for?!
I am mourning the loss of summer but also embracing that I kind of feel like I am living my daydream. Of course, I still have some bigger dreams that I've yet to achieve but for right now, my daydreams are reality. I am not exactly an emotional person but the fact that I get to have a career that allows me to be momma all day and still a teacher in the afternoon, makes me so ridiculously happy. I also love this little corner of the web where I get to share my random thoughts and personal style with y'all. Connecting with businesses (big and small) has been so much fun and I'm so excited to see where else this daydream of mine takes me.
Adulting is hard. When I was kid, I just wanted to hurry up and grow up but now that I am adult, I just wanna be a kid (except I really do like being able to eat ice cream in my bed anytime I want). To be quite honest, the past week or so has been quite rough in the adulting category. My husband was in a terrible car accident (praise God he is ok) and that hasn't been fun to handle. My husband was also traveling for work all last week so I was parenting solo. My kids are typically at their worst when daddy isn't at home.
So yeah, adulting is hard and mommyin' ain't easy... that is for sure! But I am thankful for the highs in life that outshine the lows. One of the highs (even during my crazy week with the girls) was going to the library with my daughters. We go as often as we can because we have an awesome local library. When we got there, my oldest daughter wanted to take pictures of my outfit so all five of the photos below are by her and taken on my phone. Future photographer in the making.
Push through the lows and enjoy the highs, y'all because life is good and so is God.
Well, summer has certainly flown by! This summer was full of so much fun but it just went by way too fast, as always. When I was a classroom teacher, I always felt like I blinked and then it was time to go back to school. But truth be told, I love back to school time! As a kid, I enjoyed back to school shopping, the anticipation of a new year, meeting a new teacher, and the smell of a fresh box of crayons. I guess that's why I majored in education when I went to college because I have always loved school! Even as a teacher, I loved going back and getting my classroom ready for a new group of sweet faces. Now, that I am a mother of a child getting ready to enter first grade, I get to enjoy that back to school fun all over again. Speaking of first grade, do I really have a first grader?! Seems like yesterday, she was learning how to walk and in a few days she'll be walking into first grade. The days are long but the years are short.
Julianna always says she's a "fashion girl" like mommy so it's so much fun buying clothes for her because she truly trusts my taste in clothing. She already has enough clothes but I did want to get a few things to freshen up her school wardrobe and I am loving the Cat & Jack line at Target! The pieces in the collection are practical yet fun and are so well made (they even guarantee them for a year)! I also got her a new backpack and lunchbox from Pottery Barn Kids. She chose the glittery leopard print and I am not a bit surprised! She's also wanted a pair of Converse shoes like mine for awhile so I got her a pair and I am now realizing that I will need to finally teach her how to tie her shoes. Haha! I guess it's time to learn!
Ok y'all, it's almost the end of August so it's time to seriously talk about the F word. And by F word, I mean FALL. I do love fall, really I do. Gimme all the pumpkin flavored everything but I really love summer style because I am a big fan of bright colors. I also just love everything about summertime, especially long weekend trips to the coast. Every fall season, I get a little grumpy about the selection of the clothing available for the cooler months. Where is the color?! So this season, I am determined to stay warm but keep my pops of color coming.
I'm a North Carolina girl so I don't have to get too serious about staying warm for awhile because it's usually not feeling like fall until almost November around here. But I do like transitional style like I mentioned in this post. Today, I'm sharing some of my favorite fall styles and trends that are perfect for wearing now while it's still warm but will also work when the cool weather does roll around.
Happy Wednesday! I hope your week's are going well! Today, I'm sharing an Instagram Roundup of outfits from last week. The second to last look on this post was my absolute favorite outfit of the week and I can see myself remixing it for cooler weather by switching out my sandals for ankle boots. I love ankle boots with shorts and dresses for an easy summer to fall transitional look. I started a board on Pinterest for transitional style so be sure to follow along to see what I pin!
