floral for fall

Last spring, I found this gorgeous top at Anthropologie. I stalked it until it was a price that I was willing to pay and I scored it for about $25- which is a steal at that store. My favorite part is that it's an instant pattern mix: stripes + floral. Well, I didn't want to stop at two patterns so I added in my new leopard foldover clutch! The most comfortable skinny jeans and my red lace up flats created one of my most favorite recent looks. Sometimes you put on an outfit and just feel beautiful. This was of of those days for me.

See, floral is for fall, too.

plaid + leopard... are bffs

Last fall, I started a hashtag on Instagram: #plaidandleopardarebffs and I've loved seeing all of the fun combinations that other ladies have put together. This windowpane plaid top from Old Navy with a pop of red and my favorite flats is my favorite plaid + leopard combination recently. I love pairing an oversized boyfriend flannel {so cozy and comfy} with skinny jeans. The skinny jeans and pointy toe shoes keep the look feminine.

Plaid and leopard really are best friends forever.

put together in patterns

I stalked this dress on clearance at Old Navy until it was a price that I was willing to pay. I scored it for about 10 dollars but after trying it on, I would have paid full price for it. I instantly felt put together when I put this dress on in the dressing room. Julianna was in there with me and she told me how pretty it looked. It fits loosely and comfortably but it's still feminine, which is a must for me.

For church, I paired the dress with a pop of pink, my monogram necklace, a bracelet, and leopard flats. Mixing stripes with leopard is a very easy way to pattern mix without looking tacky. The black from the dress and the black in the leopard print compliment each other perfectly.

I plan to transition this dress into fall by adding booties, a denim jacket, and a chunky scarf. I love when I fit a piece that fits well, has a good price tag, and will transition perfectly between seasons.

mix it up

Pattern mixing can seem very intimidating if you are not used to breaking fashion rules. It was something I always thought looked super cute on someone else but I never thought I could actually pull it off. A couple of years ago, I gave it a try and now I can't stop. It adds so much versatility to your wardrobe {hello, tons of new outfit combinations} and it creates such a fun, unique look.

But how do you make it happen without looking like it's tacky day during spirit week? My biggest tip is that you need to find at least one common color with another pattern. The easiest match up is black. Find two patterns in your closet that contain the same color and go for it! Stripes and floral is one of my favorite combinations along with leopard and plaid. Have fun while getting dressed + mix it up!

fashion: pattern + pearls

Yesterday's outfit was something I thought up in my head and just decided to go for it. It was a much bolder pattern mix than I've ever tried. Typically I keep it safe when I mix pattern. I love the blue and pink together and I am glad I decided to try this mix. I loved how this outfit turned out! I have another fun pattern mix planned out for my outfit tomorrow. Getting dressed should be fun!

fashion: rainy day ready

It's been a rainy + stormy day in North Carolina. But today I was prepared. Rain jacket. Hunter rain boots. Polka dots. Stripes. Pearls. All perfect ingredients to a rainy day ready look. I love how this outfit turned out and what's even better is that it was super comfortable, too. I wore this to my mom group that I lead on Tuesday mornings. We had such a great meeting and I learned so much. We are studying Tune In by Jen Hatmaker and it's been such a great experience so far. I would definitely recommend this book.

Happy Tuesday!

Saturdays are my favorite. Mainly because Josh is home in the morning. It's nice to be able to wake up next to him. He leaves for work so early during the week so I don't see him until he gets home in the evening. Our Saturdays are typically filled with various activities. This past Saturday, we attended a birthday party, went to Lowes Hardware, and got lunch before nap time. After nap, we ran more errands and did some shopping. We even got some yard work done. I love our Saturdays as a family.

Julianna snapped my picture again on Saturday. She's so cute. She tells me how to stand, where to put my arms, how to smile, and where to look. She went from taking two pictures on Friday to probably about 45 pictures on Saturday. She's too funny.
