Vintage Dooney and Dots

Hey y'all! Today is all about vintage Dooney (and Bourke) and polka dots. In case you missed it, I shared a bonus blog post yesterday and styled the cutest budget friendly dress (only $20) five different easy ways, including everyday looks and a date night style! As I mentioned in yesterday's post, polka dots are one of my very favorite patterns. My husband used to call me the "polka dot princess" back when we were dating in 2006/2007. Now in 2019, I still love dots and I am so excited to see them popping up in stores again. They are just a happy design!

I love vintage pieces as well vintage inspired pieces so I loved pairing this bag with these shorts. My mom gifted this bag to me many years ago and snagging it for a great deal. It's one my favorite gifts from her! I almost forgot I even had it until I saw someone else post a vintage Dooney and Bourke bag on their Instagram feed. You can definitely still find these bags online for sale, especially on eBay and Etsy. They are so well-made and will literally last forever plus this big duck design is just really cute, too! I hope to pass mine on to my daughters one day.

My shorts are definitely not vintage but the print and style definitely feels vintage inspired to me. As soon as I saw these shorts online, I knew they needed a place in my closet. However, I am super picky about shorts! They have to fit just right for me to buy them, much less wear them. My main criteria is they have to be at least a four inch inseam. Less than that is booty shorts on this mama! I'm not sure if I have long legs or what but a three inch inseam just doesn't work for me. My shorts also can't be tight. I want to be able to move in my shorts! I also prefer a mid to high rise, just like I do with my pants. Thank goodness that these cute shorts meet all of my criteria! They also fit true to size so you can stick with your regular size. They have some stretch to them but they don't get saggy at all during the day and they wash up perfectly.

For spring, I styled them with a open stitch cream colored sweater and brown sandals. I wore this outfit to church, lunch, and the arboretum on Sunday. I also plan to wear the shorts with a white tee and denim jacket (hello, spring outfit formula) very soon!
