swell stated

I am no longer a teacher in the regular sense of the word. I don't have my own classroom. My job doesn't start at 8 AM. However, I am still a teacher.

I taught third grade at a public school for four years before resigning to be able to spend more time at home with my growing family. It was a decision I wrestled back and forth about. Teaching has always been my passion and I have known that I would become a teacher since I was a little girl. It was just never a question what I was going to do with my life. Well, then you throw motherhood into the picture, everything changes. My daughters are 26 months apart and I felt like I needed to be home with them. I didn't want to miss any of the little moments. Every year when it comes August, I always miss the back to school craziness of decorating my classroom, preparing first day lesson plans, and open house.

But like I said I am still a teacher. Now, I work part-time as a lead STEM {Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math} teacher at a faith-based after school program for at-risk youth in my community. I think what amazes people the most is that yes, we teach and we teach a lot. I spend hours planning enriching activities that teachers may not have the time to complete in their classroom. I feel like I get to do now what I never had time to do in my own classroom. I have been completely amazed at what my students are capable of doing. So, I may not work in a traditional classroom anymore but I am a teacher and I love what I do.

Speaking of teaching, how fun is this sweatshirt from Swell Stated?! Most teacher gear involves apples and jumpers so I am loving this. So comfortable and so stylish at the same time.

I am putting together a back to school goodie bag for my daughter's kindergarten teacher and this sweatshirt would be the perfect teacher gift.

So when you're taking your own child back to school or you run into a friend who is a teacher, be sure to say thank you. Teachers are superheroes... that should wear this fun sweatshirt instead of a cape.

  1. I taught 4th grade for two years, and last year switched to AIG. Even still in the schools full time, it's a little sad when I don't have 20 little ones to greet on the first day! But I have to say, getting to teach so many fun things instead of the necessities covered by the regular classroom is such a blessing! And that sweatshirt looks incredibly comfy😉!
