Hey y'all! I hope your week is off to a good start! I started my week with a visit to the dentist. As if going to the dentist on a Monday morning isn't bad enough, I was somehow scheduled for a tooth extraction instead of a tooth repair. Yikes! Thankfully, I made it through and I didn't lose any of my teeth in the process. But yeah, I'm not a fan of going to the dentist. It might be my least favorite thing to do. I'm just thankful that I was able to go and my tooth is fixed. Be careful with Tic Tacs, y'all!
Today's post is all about my most favorite thing to do... go to the beach! Literally while I was lying in the chair at the dentist, I was thinking about the beach and how much I would rather be sitting in my chair by the water instead of the one I was in. The beach is my happy place! While we were in South Carolina visiting Josh's dad, we took a day trip to Isle of Palms because it was only about 45 minutes from where he lives. This might sound weird but I knew we were going to the beach but it didn't prepare me for how much joy I would have when I actually got there! It just instantly relaxed me and brought me so much peace. I will absolutely retire near the ocean! Sometimes just going to where you feel the most content is necessary, even it's a 45 minute or four hour drive away.
This was such a great December day to visit Isle of Palms because the high temperature was in the 70s and we even got to see some sun break through the clouds. We started our visited by getting lunch at Coconut Joe's. We literally did zero planning for this little day trip (we decided five minutes before we left the house that we were going to the beach). So, when we arrived to Isle of Palms, I Googled family friendly restaurants on the beach and this was the top pick. We got to sit at a table with the best view of the beautiful ocean and the food was delicious. Josh and I shared a giant shrimp combination dish and loved it! It even came with pimento cheese grits... yum! I would definitely recommend Coconut Joe's if you are visiting the Isle of Palms area.
The rest of our visit, we literally just played on the beach. The girls rolled up their leggings and went straight for the water (that was 55 degrees... brrrr)! They squealed with delight because they love the beach just as much as their mom and dad do! We brought bags to collect seashells, we took a walk, we found lots of fur babies to pet, we took lots of pictures, and we just enjoyed some simple family time that was completely cost free. It was really just the break I needed!
Thank you so much for visiting! Have a great day!
