Five Favorites .08

five favorites, perfect bar, madewell cardigan, leopard print leggings, lush bubble bar, style on a budget, nc blogger
Hey y'all! I hope you had a great weekend! Our weekend involved some good food, thrift store and plant shopping, and some relaxation. I am currently really loving having lots of indoor plants filling our space so I added an umbrella plant to my collection this weekend. Speaking of things that I am loving, today I'm sharing five of my current favorites. Everything from protein bars to cozy sweatshirts are included in today's post! What are you currently loving?!

I am not a big breakfast eater. I'm just not hungry in the mornings, which was why intermittent fasting was so easy for me. I've moved away from intentional intermittent fasting to intuitive eating. Intuitive eating is basically just listening to your body, which I learned much more about from my journey with intermittent fasting. When I feel hungry in the morning, one of my very favorite things to eat is one of these Perfect Bars. They are filled with protein and super foods that keep you full. There's also so many delicious flavors to try!

This bobble cardigan sweater is my current favorite clothing item! My current closet consists of mostly basic, classic pieces that I absolutely love but I needed something fun. This sweater is so great to mix and match with my closet staples, like a white tee or black turtleneck. It fits a little oversized but I would recommend staying true to size for a cozy fit!

One of my very favorite ways to unwind at the end of the day is with a bath, especially a bubble bath! I used to be a big fan of bath bombs but you can only use them once and then you are done. I just feel like they are too expensive for what you really get from it. Then, I discovered these awesome bubble bars. You just pinch off a little bit of it (a little goes a long way) and then crumble it into your warm bath water. So many bubbles and it smells amazing! One of these bars lasts me at least 5-6 baths.

I'm pretty sure there is evidence somewhere that getting new workout clothes makes you want to go workout! Well, at least it totally works for me. I am loving these leopard print leggings! I wear them to the gym but also as athleisure with white sneakers and a cozy sherpa. I found the fit to be true to size and I got the short length (I'm 5'5") for ankle breathing room, lol. I like my leggings to be just a little shorter for working out.

I literally had this sweatshirt in my Etsy card for months. I finally went back and purchased it about a month ago. It is seriously my most favorite sweatshirt! I have been wearing it multiple times a week to take the kids to school, run errands, or I've thrown it over my gym clothes for an extra layer. It's so good! I sized up one size for a relaxed, leggings friendly fit.

What to Wear for Valentine's Day

Hey y'all! I am sharing a bonus post today because I've teamed up with four awesome ladies (Erin, Courtney, and Brittany) to share some style inspiration for Valentine's Day! I personally own zero red in my closet. It's my least favorite color but I do love some pink and heart shaped jeweled, like I mentioned today in my Currently Loving post. I will be hanging out of my husband and kids on Valentine's Day so any of the looks I've put together will totally work for me. Everything is casual yet put together, which is my favorite way to dress!

This sweater was featured today in my currently loving post and it's my new favorite! The color is beautiful and I absolutely love the style. It runs a little big, which I love so I stuck with my normal size, a small. I paired it with a gray bodysuit, the very best skinny jeans (true to size, flattering, hold you on, and comfortable), leopard boots, and a round crossbody bag to complete the look. I loved this outfit so much that I am totally just wearing this exact look today!

I styled this look completely around these heels. I bought them last year from Old Navy and they are such a fun pair to have on hand. I really love a block heel! I love pairing dressy pieces with casual so I really love how the heels look with the distressed denim. I completed the look with a closet staple, a black turtleneck and a pop of leopard, of course. I think this outfit would be so cute for a date!

If you a neutral kind of girl and own zero pink or red then this look is for you. A fun dress, denim jacket, and ankle boots made a little more festive with heart shaped gold jewelry! I have linked some great heart shaped jewels at the bottom of this post. If you are wanting to look a little festive on Valentine's Day without buying a whole new outfit, just add some heart shaped pieces to accessorize an outfit that you already own.

Staying home on Valentine's Day? No worries, I've got you covered too! This comfy, casual look will take you from everyday errands to a date on the couch. The color of the top makes it feel more festive for Valentine's Day and I love the relaxed fit. I'm wearing a small and it does run a little oversized but I stuck with my regular size so it would be leggings friendly. White sneakers and my medium transport tote complete the look (my bag strap is sold out again but Madewell has so many new ones that I love, too)! The macrame one I shared today is on my wish list!

Currently Loving .169

mom style, currently loving, bohoblu, nc blogger, north carolina blogger, what to wear for valentine's day
Happy Friday! I hope you've had a great week! We don't have a lot on our agenda this weekend but I do think I am going to do a little indoor plant shopping. I am trying to be a better plant mom and so far it's going well. I love filling our house with live plants. It just makes me happy!

Today, I'm sharing my weekly roundup of what I'm Currently Loving. I am currently really loving all things heart shaped and rose pink! My husband and I don't exchange elaborate gifts on Valentine's Day or anything like that. We usually keep it super simple (like a four dollar Aldi bouquet of roses) but I've always really loved Valentine's Day! Hearts, candy, flowers, and pink. My favorites!

Which of this week's picks is your favorite?!

1. B L A Z E R | I tried this blazer on in stories last weekend and it's such a great, budget friendly find. The quality is amazing, especially for the price! I bought a super similar by the same brand last year and I am still loving mine. I found it to run a little small so I would definitely recommend sizing up at least one size or two sizes if you would prefer more of a boyfriend fit.

2. B A G | How cute is this bag?! I really do not need anymore bags in life (my current Madewell bag collection can be found here) but I love this one. So fun!

3. W H I T E  T O P | I am always drawn to white tops; I just love them. I really love the relaxed style of this one and the button front detail. You could even wear this as a lightweight cardigan during the springtime! Such a versatile top.

4. B A G  S T R A P | The only thing I love as much as Madewell bags is there bag straps! I got a leopard print one for my birthday last November and it makes my favorite bag even better. Madewell recently released some new bag straps and this macrame one is my personal favorite. It will look so cute on my Medium Transport Tote!

5. C A R D I G A N | I'm pretty great at not making impulse purchases anymore but I had a total moment of weakness and purchased this cardigan the very moment that I first saw it on the website! I missed out on it the last time that they had this style available and I didn't want to miss it again because I still loved it. I'm so happy I purchased it because it's honestly even better in person! It fits a little oversized but I went with my regular size and I love the fit.

6.  F L O R A L  T O P | This top is so perfect for Valentine's Day! This color is my personal favorite. I wear mostly neutrals except for pink! I would style this top with skinny jeans and my leopard print boots for a casual date night look.

7. E A R R I N G S | Like I mentioned earlier, I absolutely love heart shaped things and these earrings are no exception. I love the size and style of them because they are perfect for everyday. Also, hearts aren't just for February! I love wear all of the hearts all year long.

8. D R E S S | This dress was another one of my try ons from the weekend, except I tried it on in a pretty rose pink color. It also comes in this black version and gray as well. I'm planning to purchase one but I don't know which color to pick! They are three of my favorite colors. The dress does fit true to size (and has pockets) but if you are taller than 5'5", I would definitely size up for some extra length because it does fit on the shorter side.

Thank you so much for stopping by! I hope you have a great weekend!

Instagram Roundup .198

style on a budget, instagram roundup, mom style, nc blogger, north carolina blogger, what to wear for winter
Hey y'all! I hope you are having a great week! Yesterday, I shared My One Word for 2020 here on the blog! I'm sharing the story of how I chose my word for this year on that post so be sure to go back and check it out if you missed it.

Today, I'm sharing my weekly Instagram Roundup, including my outfits from the past week. I am wearing my favorite J.Crew jeans in almost every outfit that I'm including in this week's roundup! I have shared them so many times and they are worth mentioning again. The most comfortable pair of skinny jeans that hold you in (hello, magic pockets)! They fit true to size and are worth every penny.

My One Word 2020

my one word, nc blogger, north carolina blogger, christian blogger
Hey y'all! This post has been in my drafts since the beginning of January. I'm honestly not really sure what took me so look to actually write it but I always trust God's timing, especially when it comes to sharing my heart with others. Every year for the past seven years, I have chosen a word that I will focus on throughout the year. It's a replacement to the long list of resolutions that will we will all give up on by February or March. It's one word that is your road map for the year. A word that gives you a vision for your year.

Last year, I felt like my word FAITHFUL came to me so easily. For months, my word for 2019 popped up in songs I was listening to, Bible verses I was reading, and conversations I was having with friends. I even saw it pop on posts on Instagram. That word showed up to me as if it was in bright neon lights. Maybe my brain was looking for that word or maybe it was my heart but regardless, I found it. Everywhere. But, my word for 2020, didn't come to me as quickly. I honestly almost felt like this meant that I needed to repeat the word faithful because maybe my heart wasn't quite ready to focus on a new word just yet.

“He is the Maker of heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them—
He remains faithful forever.”
Psalm‬ ‭146:6‬ ‭NIV

my one word, nc blogger, north carolina blogger, christian blogger

I'm not exactly how to put it into words but I just have to share that God was incredibly faithful to me in 2019. I felt His faithfulness as I navigated a very difficult season in my life. My parents were divorcing after 38 years of marriage. There's absolutely no manual or guide that can prepare you for this undesirable journey. I prayed hard for restoration but mostly for peace and understanding. It's been a challenging season but a season where I felt like I deepened my relationship with God. I have honestly never felt closer to God in my entire life and for that, I am grateful. This season has also made me take much greater value in my own marriage, which will also play a part in the word that I have chosen for 2020.

my one word, nc blogger, north carolina blogger, christian blogger

So, after thinking for week or so that I would continue the word faithful this year (because I figured reminding myself of God's faithfulness for another year couldn't hurt), I found my new word. I must add during the past year, I have really worked on being more intentional with my time, especially the time spent with my mother. I didn't want her to feel lonely. I always know there is such great value in the time we spend together. So, we started intentionally taking a day every month or two, to spend time together just the two of us. She loves thrifting, like me, so it's something we have started doing together again. We have discovered new stores, fun finds, but most of all, quality time together.

As I was sitting in the parking lot at YMCA (that's where I found my word last year, too), I was typing up an Instagram post for the photo below, sharing some of the things above and sharing one of my most favorite finds ever, this ceramic Christmas tree. I said this in the text of the post, "I have discovered treasure in intentionally spending time with my mom. Reconnecting with her one thrift store at at time. It's been such a gift that I may have missed out on if the happenings of life didn't turn this way. You never know where you might find the most precious treasures."  As I was posting this, I was listening to the song Alabaster Heart by Bethel Music & kalley and guess what word I heard (that I had never really noticed in the many times I had listened to the song before)?!

My one word for this year is...

TREASURE

my one word, nc blogger, north carolina blogger, christian blogger

So here it is, my alabaster heart
I'm keeping nothing back from who You are
No hidden treasure veiled by key or lock
You're a lifetime worth of worship
And that's only just the start

treasure | trea·sure | \ ˈtre-zhÉ™r
verb: to hold or keep as precious

I'm not an overly emotionally person but I cried when this word came to me. God's timing was perfect. He laid this one on my heart at just at the right time. Just when I needed to hear it.

I have also chosen this verse as a my guiding verse for the year:

For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Matthew 6:21 ESV

So, what does the word treasure mean for me this year? Right now, it means being intentional in my relationships, especially with my husband and my family. Finding treasure in moments and experiences with the people I love. It also means treasuring things of lasting value, not fleeting things that only bring temporary happiness. Treasuring God's word by reading through the Bible this year and ultimately, knowing that all of my true treasure and worth is found in my relationship with God. I'm really excited about what He is going to do in my life this year!

Four Ways to Style Overalls

style on a budget, how to wear overalls, how to style overalls, nc blogger, north carolina blogger, mom style
Hey y'all! I hope you had a great weekend! Today, I'm teaming up with four awesome ladies (Joanne, Lauren, Magen, and Courtney) to share different ways to style overalls! Overalls can be a pretty challenging item to style because you don't want to look like an oversized toddler in them, lol. In today's post, I'm sharing four different ways to wear your overalls! I personally own two different pairs of Madewell overalls, a regular denim pair and a black pair. Both pairs have a skinny fit, which I love because it makes them look more chic! The black pair is my personal favorite so I picked them to style for y'all today. The denim pair fits true to size because they are pretty stretchy but the black ones are a more stiff material so they run smaller. For size reference, I'm 5'5" and wearing a size small, regular length. Do you own overalls?!

OUTFIT ONE | henley, sneakers and denim jacket
This first look is definitely the most casual look out of the four that I'm sharing today but it's definitely my most common way to wear my overalls. I love throwing on a pair of sneakers with my overalls! For this look, I'm wearing a henley tee underneath (I sized up one size in the tee) plus a denim jacket, fun bag, and jewels to pull the look together. I will probably be wearing this identical look this weekend because I love it so much! Easy yet stylish... the best.

OUTFIT TWO | turtleneck, moto jacket, and leopard boots
When I'm doing these style sessions, I honestly do very little beforehand preparation. I just throw outfits together in the middle of the process, which is super fun for me. I love how this edgy look came together! I'm wearing a fitted turtleneck underneath (it runs small so I sized up one size) with a black moto jacket, crossbody bag, and my favorite leopard boots. The colors in the leopard print totally pull together the entire outfit. Okay, maybe I want to wear this outfit this weekend instead... I love it! Such a fun way to wear overalls for date night, too!

OUTFIT THREE | sweater, blazer, and tall boots
Can overalls be work appropriate?! If so, then this is the way to wear overalls to work! See, you can seriously make overalls look chic, just add a blazer. My blazer is from last year but it's back in a super similar print! It's budget friendly and great quality. The new version runs a little small so I would recommend sizing up one to two sizes for a more relaxed fit. Okay, back to this outfit. I wore a sweater under my overalls (I really bulky sweater might not work but this lighter weight one totally works) then I added the blazer, tall boots, and my large transport tote in black. I really love how the tall boots look with the overalls... I've actually never worn them together until now!

OUTFIT FOUR | button up, cardigan, and mules
For the last look, I added a silk button down under my overalls, which is also something I've never worn with them before. I have really been trying to fully utilize my wardrobe and wear the things I own in a new, different ways. I used this style session as a way to get creative and see the things that were already hanging in my closet in a whole new way. For some extra warmth, I threw on a cardigan, which I love to wear with overalls and my Madewell mules. I felt really comfortable in this outfit but still put together!
