My Favorite Christmas Movies on Netflix

christmas movies, favorite christmas movies, movies on netflix, north carolina blogger, mom blogger

Hey y'all! My kids are out of school for the fourth day in a row because of snow. When it snows in North Carolina, it clearly shuts us down for a few days. I shared some photos of our snow days and some of our traditions in this post (including my sausage ball and mulled wine recipes) in case you missed it. Today, I'm going to share my favorite Christmas movies on Netflix because with all of these days at home, we've definitely had time to watch a few (okay, a lot) of Netflix!

Almost all of these movies are family friendly. We actually only own one television in our home (and we don't even have cable; just Netflix) so when the kids are awake, we only have shows or movies playing on the television that are appropriate for them to watch as well.

This movie has been on Netflix for awhile but I didn't watch it until this week. This one has a really good story line that was interesting to my husband and I plus my kids loved it. My husband cannot handle Hallmark kind of Christmas movies and he actually watched this one with us. It's about a journalist who goes to another country to get the scoop on the prince who's about to become king and of course, they end up falling in love!

This one is the sequel to The Christmas Prince and I think I liked it even better! It keeps you entertained and laughing but there's still a great story to it. I loved it!

I'm honestly terrible about turning on a movie to watch with my kids and then getting distracted by something else. I rarely sit through a movie from start to finish but snow days allowed me to slow day and actually finish movies with them! They watched this one a couple weeks ago but we watched it again (and again) during our snow days. It's a really well made movie! It definitely should have been in movie theaters! It reminded me of my childhood favorite, The Santa Clause. This movie is witty, entertaining, and overall, just an excellent Christmas movie. Two thumbs up!

This is a classic and I honestly didn't think my kids would watch it because it's not a movie like The Christmas Chronicles. But, I was so wrong! My girls (eight and six) absolutely loved The Nutcracker. They take ballet so I think that made it even more exciting to them. I would love to take them to a live performance of The Nutcracker. I think they would love it!

I think my oldest daughter turns this move on every single day! I finally watched it with her and it's such a cute story. It kind of reminded me of The Parent Trap but with adults. Vanessa Hudgens looks absolutely stunning in this movie. I really liked it!

This movie was one of our first snow day Christmas movie picks to watch together as a family. Of course, my oldest daughter had already seen it (I also must mention that she's a super early bird and gets up at 5:30 am every day because she likes to- she didn't get that from me). I wasn't sure if I was going to like this one but it proved me wrong! It was such a fun story about a photographer who has a family Advent calendar that predicts her future. I loved the ending! Also, William Hill from This is Us is also in this movie.

Another classic Christmas movie. This version of the movie came out 18 years ago, when I was in the eighth grade! I can't believe it's been that long! I loved watching it back then and I still love it. My kids didn't really like watching this version until recently because they found the Grinch to be kind of scary but now they like it. We saw the updated, animated version in theaters a couple of weeks ago and I love it, too! It's super cute. The teacher in me had my kids compare and contrast the two movies and they actually enjoyed doing that! Win!

It's super important to my husband and I that our children understand the true meaning of Christmas and why we are celebrating. The Star did such a great job of telling the Nativity Story. We have watched this one a couple of times and I would definitely recommend it!

This movie wasn't originally on my list but after publishing this post, one of my readers recommended it. It's such an inspiring and encouraging story of why it's important stay faithful and to never stop believing. My husband and I really loved this. Such a great movie!

This is obviously the non-family friendly movie on this list. This movie came out in 2003, when I was a senior in high school. I remember going to the theater to watch it! I love the intertwining stories and the overall message of the movie. I watch it at least once a year (or more)!

And, a bonus pick (that isn't a Christmas movie): D U M P L I N'
This movie was just released on Netflix and it's getting great reviews! My husband and I watched it this week and I'm already ready to watch it again. It's about a teenager who wants to prove a point about measuring up and fitting in. This movie is rated PG-13 so it's not necessarily made for children but it's definitely a movie that I would like to watch with my girls in the future.

What are you current favorite movies on Netflix?!
