Mountain Weekend

Happy Wednesday! Today, I am going to share some highlights from our weekend mountain getaway. I would say I am more of a beach person but I also really love going to the mountains, especially during the fall. One of my absolute favorite things about living in the state of North Carolina is the fact that we have the mountains and the beach so close by! I live in the center of the state so to go to either place is about three hours or less.

We spent our weekend in Boone, Blowing Rock, Linville, and Banner Elk. All of these mountain towns are within 30 minutes of each other and each hold their own little treasures. On Friday, we went to Dan'l Boone Inn Restaurant in Boone. They food is served family style and it's pretty amazing. You can even get refills on your dessert! Now, that's my kind of eating.

We are big fans of visiting wineries and vineyards. We found several beautiful ones in the area with amazing views! We also love (short) hikes and hunting for waterfalls. We took the girls up Grandfather Mountain so we could see the animals at the nature center, walk across the mile high swinging bridge, and stand at the top of the mountain. I must say that I am not a fan of heights, especially edge of a mountain kind of heights but I'll pretty much do anything for my kids. They had a great time because they are definitely adventure seekers like their dad!

We had such a fun weekend celebrating my birthday as a family. I hope you all have a wonderful day!
