fashion: seahorses on Sunday

Yesterday I pulled out one of my favorite dresses that I purchased last summer from Target. It's seahorses and the style is a high-low design, which I love. This was a comfortable outfit for church and extra warm summer temperatures.

fashion: pineapples + stripes

Most of the time I go into my closet with some sort of idea of what I want to wear. I usually think of a certain item and then plan my entire outfit around making that item work for the day. Yesterday, I picked this pink pineapple shirt. I scored this shirt for free thanks to Target gift cards from the Virgin Mobile Catch App (you need to download it). It's so bright and fun but I wasn't really sure what I wanted to wear with it so when in doubt, I go with stripes. I also scored this skirt for free with the Wrapp app! Woot woot! I love free stuff. It was all about the gold accessories to compliment the pineapples. A perfectly comfortable and bright Saturday outfit.

fashion: floral Friday

Yesterday I made up another holiday- it was floral Friday. Mostly just because I was wearing my favorite shorts. Floral shorts with sparkly accessories.

thrifty: homemade laundry detergent for sensitive skin

I love making things myself and I love saving money. A friend gave me a sample of her homemade laundry detergent and it smelled amazing! I washed a few loads of clothes with it and my clothes came out so clean and smelled great. Unfortunately, my girls have very sensitive skin and it didn't work out for us due to the fragrance. Since then, I have been hoping to find a formula that would work for our family. I stumbled upon an idea on Pinterest and made it my own. This formula works for HE machines. It doesn't have the amazing scent that I loved about my friend's detergent but it still cleans great and doesn't irritate the girls' skin plus it's so inexpensive to make! Our laundry comes out fresh and clean.

What You'll Need:
- 1 box of 20 Mule Team Borax.
- 1 box of Arm & Hammer Super Washing Soda.
- Any type of bar soap that works for your skin.

What To Do:
- Mix 1/2 cup of Borax, 1/2 cup of washing soda, and 1 cup of grated soap. I doubled the recipe twice to make what you see above. This is a gallon jar (from Wal-Mart) and it's about 3/4 full.
- I used a cheese grater to grate my soap but this could also be done in a food processor.
- Use a spoon to mix the 3 components together.

Tips:
- Use about 1 tablespoon of detergent for a small load.
- Use about 2 tablespoons for a heavier/more soiled load (my husband's clothes).
- Borax is toxic if ingested so be careful. If you use a kitchen measuring cup, be sure to hand wash it thoroughly and run it through the dishwasher before using it again.

fashion: Patriotic Friday Favorites

Happy Friday! Today I am sharing some of my favorites in honor of the 4th of July. These patriotic styles are filled with stars, stripes, red, white, and blue. I'm pretty sure those Forever 21 heart shaped sunglasses are my very favorite item. How cute are they?! I think I need them for our upcoming trip to the OBX for summer vacation during the week of the 4th!Patriotic Friday Favorites

fashion: geometric + lollipops

I needed to buy groceries today and I was taking my two sidekicks along for the journey. But I didn't leave unprepared this time. I stuck six lollipops in my purse. And I came home with none. Thank goodness for Dum Dum Pops!
