Currently Loving

style on a budget, summer style, mom style, look for less, wish list

Happy Friday! I hope you have all had a great week! Tomorrow is going to be so busy for us. We have not one, not two, but three birthday parties to attend back to back. But hopefully we will sneak in some relaxation for Father's Day on Sunday to celebrate the awesome dads in our lives.

Today, I'm rounding up eight items that I'm currently loving. This week, I actually don't already own any of the items but they are all definitely on my wish list!

1. Gingham Shorts | These adorable pull on shorts on currently on sale for $20! I need to add them to my closet asap!

2. Leopard Slides | I have a pair of leopard slides from last year but I am loving this pair! Plus this pair is less than $50. Leopard is definitely my favorite neutral.

3. Ruffle Tee | This cute tee is back and better than ever! I missed out on buying it back in the fall but I think it needs a place in my closet this time around.

4. Tie Back Dress | I absolutely love stripes and this dress is too cute! This basic dress is taken up a notch with a super fun tie back detail.

5. Straw Tote | I love a good straw tote and I think this one is so perfect for summertime. Take it to the farmers market, beach, or pool! The tassel detail is too cute.

6. Crossbody Bag | The round shape of this bag is so cute! It's also such a great neutral color that will match all of your spring and summer outfits.

7. Blush Pink Hat | Some days not even dry shampoo is enough so every girl needs a baseball cap for bad hair days! I love this feminine blush pink color that makes a baseball hat a little more girly.

8.  Cropped Jumpsuit | I am a big fan of jumpsuits and I have been on the hunt for a cute black one. Dress it down with sandals or dress is up with heels and a statement necklace. Such a versatile piece!

Which of my picks is your favorite?!

Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you have a great weekend!

Out of My Comfort Zone

mom style, style on a budget, how to wear striped pants, summer style

Happy Thursday! Well, summer break is off to a great start! Yesterday, I had a PTO meeting in the morning and then we spent the rest of the afternoon finding summertime fun. We had a Chick-Fil-A picnic, explored the zoo, and then cooled off at the splash pad. My girls had so much fun and so did I... but goodness gracious, it was a hot day in North Carolina!

Today, I'm sharing what I wore to church this past Sunday and honestly, these pants were way out of my comfort zone. I found them at Marshalls (only $17) last Friday and I was definitely a little worried that I would look like I belonged in the Aladdin movie. But I loved  the way they looked and decided to buy them anyway! Sometimes the pieces that make us the most nervous end up being the most fun. The slits on each side of the pants go all of the way up so I did safety pin them to avoid a major wardrobe malfunction. The next time I wear them, I plan to wear black shorts underneath or wear them over swimsuit as a fun cover up. They are definitely coming to the beach with me!

I styled these pants (similar pants here) with a simple loose fitting black tank ($8!), statement earrings, my most comfortable wedges, a cuff bracelet, and a black tote for a super comfortable look.

Thank you so much for stopping by! Have a wonderful day!

Instagram Roundup

style on a budget, how to dress for summer, mom style, instagram roundup, style blogger
Happy Wednesday! This week is our first week of summer break and I'm already loving the slower pace of life. For the next two weeks, I have a very relaxed work schedule and a lot more time to spend with my children. I am trying to squeeze in as much fun and relaxation as possible before summer day camp starts in July. Today, we are planning a trip to the splash pad and the zoo as long as the weather cooperates with our afternoon plans.

In today's post, I'm rounding up seven of my recent Instagram photos. Now that the school year program is over, I'll be reaching for more shorts and dresses. I have also been stocking up on a sleeveless tops because the weather is very warm where I live.

These are a few of my recent purchases for my summer wardrobe:

Splurge vs. Steal Mascara Review

mascara review, beauty product review, style on a budget, makeup review

Hey y'all! I have never done a splurge vs. steal beauty product review but I thought it would be fun to share my experience trying out a new mascara. This post is not at all sponsored by either mascara brand but the links are affiliate links so if you purchase one of them from my link, I may make a commission from the sale.

I have been using the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara for about six months now and it has become my new favorite. I have always been a drugstore mascara kind of girl (because I'm cheap) but I had a gift card to Ulta and decided to purchase an item that would normally be a splurge for me. I have loved using the pricier mascara but I spotted the L'Oreal Lash Paradise mascara at Target over the weekend. It claims to have many of the same benefits so for less than half the price of the splurge mascara, I thought it was worth a try. Several ladies messaged me on Instagram after seeing my story about trying this mascara so I wanted to highlight my experience as well as some of the pros and cons of each mascara. I also want to mention that I did not figure in whether the waterproof factor in the steal version was effective since my splurge mascara wasn't waterproof.

Pros
This mascara makes your lashes pop! I have pretty fine lashes (see photo of my lashes below) but with three coats of this mascara, my lashes look so full. It also stayed in place all day long without running and it looked just as good at the end of the day.

Cons
The biggest con is definitely the price! Twenty three dollars for mascara just isn't realistic for most women. I personally think it's expensive. Another kind of silly con for this one is the name. I thought the name was witty until my seven year old was in my bathroom reading my beauty products. She started to sound this one out and yeah, it was just awkward, lol. And finally, this mascara can get clumpy, it's not super easy to take off, and it does take three coats to get the look I want.

Pros
The price of this mascara is amazing! It's about ten dollars at Ulta but I also found it for nine dollars at Target. I also achieved the look I was looking for with three coats of this mascara. The mascara went on very minimal clumping and lasted all day long. I loved the volume and extra length this mascara added to my eyelashes!

Cons
Really the only con I have for this mascara is that it takes three coats to achieve my desired look. But I feel like almost any mascara on the market takes at least that many coats to get a full lash look without using fake lashes. Also, I do want to mention that I couldn't remove this mascara with just my makeup remover wipes (because it's the waterproof version) but it did come off with coconut oil fairly easily.

My Favorite
I have been such a fan of the splurge version but I also love a good deal! I personally think the L'Oreal Lash Paradise is just as good of a mascara as the Too Faced one. With the same amount of coats, I got a very similar look but I did find that my lashes looked less clumpy withe the less expensive mascara. My final verdict: save your money and buy the steal!

Go To Tee

style on a budget, mom style, how to dress for summer, the perfect striped tee

Happy Monday! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! Our weekend was full of good food (including amazing cheese fries and chicken from our own grill), a Target run, naps, hanging out with great friends, lots of coffee, watching movies, and spending time together as a family. My favorite things.

Today, I'm sharing with y'all my go to tee and this outfit that I wore for our family outing on Saturday.  Every time this tee in clean, I wear it. It's seriously that great and so comfortable. I have worn it and washed it at least a dozen times but it still looks good as new. A striped tee is a closet staple. Throw it on with a pair of jean shorts and sandals for a more casual look or tuck it into a skirt for a dressier look. You just can't go wrong with stripes. I love this shirt so much that I went back and bought this style in three colors! Also, this tee runs true to size with a relaxed fit.

Thank you so much for stopping by! I hope you have a great week!
