Hair and Beauty Bag

hair, beauty, hair style, style on a budget

Happy Monday! Like I mentioned in this post, I go  see my stylist, Kahli at Renew to get my hair cut, colored, and styled every eight weeks. I have to get my hair colored on that eight week schedule because I've had some gray hair since I was 18. Not fun. My hair is naturally pretty dark and she does the best job lightening it up for me to get the look I want. She does a shadowed root so that my regrowth looks more natural and she highlights using balayage. I love how my color turned out! My cut is an angled bob (that she just trimmed up this time) and she curled it with a 1.25 inch curling iron. I wish she could come to my house and style my hair for me every day!

SHOP MY FAVORITE HAIR PRODUCTS:

Today, I also wanted to share what's currently inside of my beauty bag. I love trying new products and sharing what I love with y'all. My skin has been so dry lately so I've been focusing on taking care of my skin and keeping it moisturized.  Let me know if you have any questions or want more information about any of my beauty favorites!

1. Moisturizer | I have used this moisturizer since I was in high school. I bought it back then because it wasn't expensive but I continue to buy it now because it works! I have pretty dry skin and this moisturizer does a great job keeping my face hydrated. I've tried more expensive brands and keep coming back to this one!

2. Clear Mascara | I actually don't use this product as a mascara. I use it for setting my brows and it works so good! It's also only about $4.

3. Powder Foundation | I discovered this product in an Influenster sample box and I am hooked! I love the lightweight coverage!

4. Powder Highlighter | I love this highlighter and the perfect glow it gives my skin! I've been using this instead of blush and it lasts all day.

5. Lipstick | I don't buy much "expensive" lipstick. I usually just pick up cheap colors at the drug store but I love this lip color and the shade Sushi Kiss is so pretty!

6. Mascara | This is my favorite mascara that I have tried in a long time! It doesn't clump which is so important to me! The price is a little more than I typically spend on mascara but if you love long, full lashes then it's definitely worth every penny.

7. Concealer I tried this concealer since I already loved the foundation in this line and I love it! It perfectly conceals and blends easily. Such great coverage!

8. Face Oil | Like I mentioned above, I am struggling with super dry skin right now! I started using this face oil about two weeks ago and I am loving the results. My skin has been way less dry and it has a natural glow! I love it!

Weekend Style

style on a budget, mom style, weekend style, adidas superstars

Hey y'all and Happy Monday! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! I had a great weekend but it was the opposite of relaxing (just like my entire week). Can I get an extra day, please?! But seriously, it was a great weekend and I was very excited to have my husband back at home after he traveled the whole week for work. We spent our Saturday hiking plus a trip the zoo, out to eat at our favorite local restaurant, and a little shopping at Target and Old Navy.  On Sunday, I was able to co-host a dino chic baby shower for my favorite friend to celebrate the upcoming arrival of her baby boy!

Speaking of the weekend, today I'm sharing my typical weekend style. I pretty much always wear distressed denim jeans on the weekend because they aren't work week appropriate for me. Comfy athletic shoes are also a must on the weekend (...and everyday). I also recently got this cute knotted front tee and I love it! It's the perfect addition to my weekend uniform. It runs true to size and comes in four colors. I think I need at least one more color because it's so comfortable! I add a fun (and functional) bag to complete the casual look. What's your go-to weekend look?!

I hope you have a wonderful week and thanks so much for st

Currently Loving

Happy Fri-YAY! Y'all! This has been the longest week. It's been a good week for the most part but it's been so exhausting! I think I need to nap for two days just to recoup. But I know that ain't happening! Just running on lots of Jesus, coffee, and mascara today.

My post today is my most favorite of the whole week because I get to show you a glimpse of my favorite items that I either already own or what's inside of my shopping cart. Which of my picks is your favorite?!

1. Blush Tee | How many blush tees is too many?! I am loving this one and I think it needs a spot in my closet. Give me all of the cute tees!

2. Flatform Espadrilles | I bought these Sunday and can't wait to wear them... probably today! They are so comfortable and easy to walk in. The perfect shoe for spring and summer when you want a little height without the discomfort. Oh and they are under $30!

3. Floral Leggings | These Old Navy leggings are just too cute! I buy most of my active wear from there and the quality is so good for the price!

4. Swing Dress | I bought this dress last spring and literally wore it once a week through October. It's the perfect swing dress and washes up perfectly. It also runs true to size and is super budget friendly.

5. Ruffle Top | I also own way too many gray tops but... how fun is the ruffle detail?! I absolutely love when a simple piece, like a gray tee, is dressed up with a fun detail to take it up a notch. Cozy chic is so me!

6. Hoop Earrings | I also own these earrings from the Sugarfix collection by BaubleBar at Target. They are under $10 and I have worn them pretty much every single day since I bought them. So cute and so comfortable to wear.

7. Olive Vest | I bought a vest similar to this one last week but I am loving the length of this one. I might have to get it in the other color they have! I love how the model styled it with shorts for summer.

8. Gold Flats | I love the perforated detailing on these gorgeous little flats. Plus a gold shoe will go with any outfit!

3 Steps to a Happy Life

steps to a happy life, ankit, lifestyle blogger, emoji, headphones

Hey y'all and Happy Thursday! Today, I'm excited to style some not-so-typical items for you all. These adorable emoji slippers and floral headphones in today's post are from Ankit. I absolutely love everything on their website because it's colorful and fun! In honor of these happy pieces, I'm going to share my three (kind of serious) steps to a happy life...

1. Sing at the top of your lungs in the middle of downtown.
I put on these pretty headphones, found one of my favorite songs on my phone, and sang so loud. Fun fact: Keith Urban is my all time favorite artist so I was definitely singing one of his amazing songs! I just can't not sing (or dance) when he's playing. Music is always my happy place.

2. Wear emoji slippers without a care in the world.
Anyone close to me will tell you that emojis are quite important to my texting and social media lifestyle. If I don't send you an emoji along with my text, I could possibly be mad at you (kidding... kind of). I happily pranced around the sidewalk wearing these fun slippers!

3. Dance like... everyone is watching and it doesn't really matter.
We all (myself definitely included) get so caught up in what others think of us and whether or not we will be accepted. Don't worry what others think of you. You are special, unique, and amazing just the way you are. Even if you have no rhythm (which happens to be my case), dance anyway. I always regret the times that I don't live in the moment.

I hope you all have a wonderful Friday Eve!

Instagram Roundup

Hey y'all! Happy Wednesday! But really, is it only Wednesday?! This week is jam packed with lots of work, volunteering at preschool, finishing our NASA project, being a single momma (thankfully just for a few days), my dad's birthday, hiking at the zoo, and a baby shower for my very favorite friend! I just got a little more tired just thinking about how much I need to accomplish this week. Haha! But it's going to be a good one. Today, I'm beginning my workday with a working brunch at my favorite place so that ain't so bad!

I'm rounding up ten of my most recent Instagram posts below. I'm seriously loving all things black, blush, and neutral right now! Pretty much everything that I have purchased recently falls into one of those categories and I'm quite okay with that.

Have a great day and thanks so much for stopping by!

Feather Print Dress

custom dress, eshakti, mom style, style on a budget, blush bag, peep toe boots

Happy Tuesday! I hope your week is off to a great start! Over the weekend, I got my hair cut, colored, and styled by my stylist Kahli at Renew. She's the only person who has touched my hair in over six years and I think she's the very best! I go in almost exactly every eight weeks to get my hair colored because I have been blessed with random gray hairs since I was about 18! She just trimmed up by bob (I'm letting it grow a little), did balayage highlights and shadowed roots, and then curled it for me. I always love how my hair turns out!

Today, I'm styling this gorgeous feather print tie neck dress by eShakti! I've shared about eSkakti before and I just absolutely love them! This dress was custom made for me. Yes, you read that right- custom made! Have you ever been shopping, standing in the dressing room with 10 dresses wishing you could change this or that to make it the perfect dress? Well, I definitely have! Sometimes I wish the neckline was a little higher, the sleeves a little longer, or the hemline just a little bit shorter. At eShakti, you can get truly customized clothing! Their clothing can be customized to your height, hemline, neckline, and sleeve preferences so you can feel your very best in your clothes! How amazing is that?! I know I am much more confident when what I am wearing fits just the way I want it to.

I chose a standard size (S/4), chose my height (5'5") and I was able to make a few other selections (neckline, sleeves, and length) to get the perfect, custom fit. I absolutely loved the black and white feather print of this dress and the swingy shape! I styled it with taupe peep toe ankle boots, a blush bag, and simple jewelry. This dress and good hair made me feel so beautiful!

Have a great day, y'all!
