Halloween and My New Pink Coat

halloween costume, style on a budget, north carolina blogger, how to dress for fall

Happy Halloween! Do y'all have any fun plans tonight?! After work, we are planning to take my girls to do a little trick or treating in our neighborhood. They really don't need any candy because they filled up their buckets from just one trunk or treat event on Sunday night! My husband and I are planning to collect our "candy tax" tonight which basically means we sort through their candy and take a percentage of what we love. Give me all of the Sour Patch Kids!

My girls have been dressing up for a couple weeks for different Halloween related events and because of my thriftiness and the Target Halloween clearance, they have worn a different costume every time! I am all about a good deal so I always hit up the clearance holiday goodies at Target during the days after pretty much any holiday, especially Halloween. Most of the costumes start out at 50% off the day after Halloween but they go down as low as 90% off a week to a week and a half after Halloween! Last year, I scored tons of costumes, clothing, and accessories for so cheap. My girls wear the costumes throughout the year to play dress up, too.

Today, I'm sharing my Halloween costume and my new favorite pink coat. Cat ears of any variety seem to my go-to costume every single year. I absolutely adore creative costumes but I just can't never get myself together and make it happen for myself so cat ears it is. So for this year's costume, I'm wearing my leopard ears and all of my leopard accessories with the most perfect little black dress (I love it so much that I just ordered it in gray). I also added my new pink coat for a layer of warmth! How pretty is this coat?! It's super budget friendly, too! I'm wearing a size small and I found that it fits true to size.

Are you dressing up for Halloween?! What's your costume?

Olive, Denim, and Velvet

a.n. designs, fall fashion, style on a budget, what to wear for fall, north carolina blogger, mom style

Hey y'all! I hope you all had a great weekend! I literally ate and drank my way through the weekend! I had pumpkin pancakes, bacon, an iced caramel macchiato, peanut butter cup beer, tacos, a margarita, cannolis, gelato, and that was just on Saturday! I am definitely going to have to kick my workouts into high gear this week after all of that deliciousness.

Today, I'm styling a fall look with two pieces from a.n. designs! I have shared my love for a.n. designs denim before in this post.  I absolutely love this urban wash super skinny pair of jeans from a.n. designs! I got my regular size so they fit true to size and like a glove. They hold you in perfectly and are so flattering! The mid rise is perfectly comfortable and I love the wash. Such a perfect pair of jeans that I will be wearing non-stop this fall and winter. I paired these amazing skinny jeans with the a.n. designs classic cardigan in olive (I'm wearing a size medium so I would recommend sizing up in this piece) with a black velvet cami.

Both of these pieces fro a.n. designs will be classic, closet staples for me this season! Who doesn't love a great fitting pair of jeans and a cardigan?!

Currently Loving

style on a budget, north carolina blogger, fall fashion, what to buy for fall

Happy Friday, y'all!

I hope you have had a great week! Today, I'm rounding up eight items that I am currently loving. I am all about style on a budget but I do feel like there are certain items that are worth investing in. For me personally, I invest in shoes and handbags (and cozy outerwear during the cooler months) because these items get the most wear. Remember that cost per wear equation I've talked about before? Take the cost of the item divided by how many times you'll use it equals if an item is worth purchasing. This equation has saved me from a lot of impulse purchases for pieces that I will only use two or three times.

1. Sherpa Vest | I have been wanting a neutral sherpa vest since last winter but I never found one that I liked the style and the price of. But I am loving this one and this option too! They are both super cute and budget friendly.

2. Pearl Sweater | I am loving pearl embellishments so much! This cozy gray sweater with pearls is high on my shopping wish list.

3. Knee High Boots | The heel height of this knee high boots is perfect! I love my heeled boots but let's be honest, practical boots are just the way to go. I'm way more productive (and happy) in comfortable shoes!

4. Pink Scarf | How cozy and cute is this scarf?! I got rid of most of my scarves so I have been hunting for new ones to add to my cold weather wardrobe. I think this one is perfect and would add such a fun pop of color to any winter look!

5. Aviator Sunglasses | I own these sunglasses and I love them! You have probably seen them in almost every single outfit post recently here on the blog. They are also on sale for about $12!

6. Leopard Cardigan | Y'all, I haven't purchased anything or even been inside of a Hollister store in years. Probably since I was 18 and that was a long time ago but I am loving this adorable leopard cardigan from there! Totally appropriate for a 31 year old mom!

7. Gold Earrings | I just can't get enough gold hoop earrings right now. I love this pair and they are under $20!

8. Shirt Dress | This shirt dress is made out of tencel so you know it's going to be so soft! I love the gray color and the swingy style. Such a great classic piece for your closet!

Which of my picks is your favorite?!

Have a great weekend! Thanks so much for stopping by!

One Sweatshirt Two Ways

how to style a little black dress, style on a budget, fall fashion, north carolina blogger, mom style

Hey y'all! I hope you are having a wonderful week! We are almost to find and I am so excited for a weekend of fall fun with my family! I see trunk or treats, glitter hair spray, princess dresses, and tons of sugar in my weekend forecast.

Today, I am styling this gorgeous side slit sweatshirt (under $25!) two ways but in one outfit with all of the same pieces. A "fancy" sweatshirt is of my one favorite pieces to use to create athleisure or casual looks. I have worn this sweatshirt to the gym but I've also styled it with jeans and ankle boots. The side slits take the sweatshirt from just an average clothing item to something that can take your comfy looks up a notch! Plus it is so seriously soft and you won't want to take it off. I promise!

I styled it over my dress because the side slits can be a little tricky to work with to keep it modest but layering over a dress or a cami makes it mom friendly. Also, when I wear it with leggings or jeans, I always wear it with pants that have a higher rise. I also wore this sweatshirt tied around my waist because fall weather in North Carolina is just so unpredictable. You are freezing in the morning but often sweating by noon. I also love tying long sleeved tops around my waist with swing dresses to help prevent wardrobe malfunctions, especially on a windy day or when you have kids in tow. This might be one of my biggest mom hacks! Haha!

Instagram Roundup

north carolina blogger, style on a budget, instagram roundup, fall fashion, places to eat in greensboro
Happy Wednesday! I hope you are all having a great week so far!

Today, I'm rounding up photos from Instagram last week, including a few food pictures from a new restaurant we tried this weekend in Greensboro. One of my favorite local bloggers had shared this place on her Instagram feed and I knew I had to try it for myself! The restaurant is called Cugino Forno and it was literally like taking a quick trip to Italy! The dough is made fresh there and the pizza's are cooked in a wood-fired oven. All of their ingredients comes straight from Italy! We tried the Americano pizza (we added ricotta cheese), the Lucce salad, and cannolis! Everything was so incredibly delicious and tasted so fresh. I am still thinking about those cannolis! They also serve gelato in many flavors and I'm going to have to try it for myself next time. If you are local to Greensboro, you have to try this little piece of Italy!
