Instagram Roundup + 3 Quick Tips for Getting Dressed

Happy Wednesday! I hope you're having a great week so far! Today, I'm sharing my weekly roundup of pictures from my Instagram feed. As much as I love sharing beautifully styled, professional photos here on the blog, I love sharing my real life, daily outfits so much more! My daily looks are a mixture of what I've styled before for brands that I've worked with and what I purchased myself. My selfie style photos from Instagram are really the most accurate representation of my style. I am all about comfortable and casual but I also want to look put together.

Here's the three quick steps for how to I put an everyday (Monday through Friday) outfit together:

1. Choose bottoms first. (I typically save dresses and skirts for the weekend because they aren't always the best choice for my job). Get rid of pants, jeans, skirts, or shorts in your closet that don't fit right and this first step will be a lot faster. I used to hang onto the pants that were either too big or too small or just generally uncomfortable. Toss them in the giveaway pile! Only hang onto what makes you feel good.

2. Pick a top. I am a big fan of dressed up t-shirts. Tees that have a special detail that take it up a notch and make it look a lot fancier without sacrificing style. My personal style is pretty casual because of my career but you can also make "t-shirts" work for a more professional setting by adding a cardigan to your outfit. Also, stock up on basics in your closet. A good fitting black top is a necessity and it's always my go-to when I don't know what to wear.

3. Accessorize your look. Choose a pair of shoes that compliment (not necessary match) your outfit and shoes. I personally keep my jewelry pretty simple. If I wear statement earrings or a statement necklace then the rest of my jewels are always pretty understated. I also do the same when adding a pop of color with a bag or shoes. I love pairing a neutral outfit with a statement necklace or colorful shoes.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great day!

Take Me to Charleston

Charleston, travel, lifestyle blogger, fashion blogger, lilly pulitzer style

Hey y'all! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! I took yesterday off from blogging since I was out of town. We spent the long weekend visiting my husband's father who lives in South Carolina, just outside of Charleston. I have been going down to visit him with Josh for the past ten years since we have been together but we don't always have to time to make a visit to the historic downtown Charleston area. This weekend, we decided to spend Sunday afternoon there.

My absolute favorite part about the downtown area is the charm! The architecture is absolutely gorgeous and I love all of the beautiful colors that fill the area. There is literally something to take a picture of everywhere you look. Horse drawn carriages, pink and purple buildings, cobblestone streets, and gorgeous flowers are everywhere. The highlight of our day for my daughters (ages 5 and 7) was definitely splashing in the pineapple fountain by the waterfront. Fully dressed, they jumped right in and had the best time ever. I would absolutely recommend Charleston, South Carolina to literally anyone because there's something for everyone. Every age group would definitely enjoy a visit to the area! There's tons of gorgeous shops and amazing places to eat. It would make for the perfect romantic weekend getaway or a family vacation. I love Charleston!

The weather was super warm while we were there and it will remain that way throughout the rest of the summer. The south is hot and the climate in Charleston is very similar to where I live in North Carolina. To beat the heat, I wore a Lilly Pulitzer swing dress with nude sandals, statement earrings, a straw bag, and a cuff bracelet. The colors in my dress matched the scenery of Charleston quite perfectly!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Happy Tuesday!

Currently Loving

Happy Friday! I hope you are all having a great week! We are headed down to South Carolina for the long weekend to visit family. I'm hoping to visit downtown Charleston while we are there! It's one of my very favorite places to go. Have you been before? Do you have any recommendations?

Today, I'm rounding up what I am currently loving. Which of my picks is your favorite?!

1. Blush Bag | Blush is one of my favorite colors so I am loving this adorable saddle bag. It can be worn on the shoulder or as a crossbody bag.

2. Striped Tank | I have this top in the short sleeve version and I love this sleeveless option. You just really can't go wrong with stripes!

3. Block Heels | A neutral pair of block heels is a closet staple. You can wear them them with shorts and a cardigan for a casual look or wear them dressy with your little black dress for date night. Sole Society is my very favorite place to buy shoes. The quality is always amazing!

4. Cropped Denim | This brand of denim has been my favorite for many years. They hold their shape and hug in all of the right places. I need to add this cropped pair to my closet!

5. Coin Purse | I mean, I think everyone needs this adorable little watermelon coin purse, right?! It's just too cute and I love the rhinestone details.

6. Sunglasses | Twelve dollars sunglasses are my favorite kind of sunglasses. This mirrored pair is stylish and well-made but the price takes away of the stress of losing them or breaking them. Cheap and super cute sunnies for the win.

7. Pink Shorts | I am loving this pair of shorts! They would look so cute with a sleeveless chambray, sandals, and a straw bag for summertime!

8. Tie Front Tee | I have this tee and it's one of my current favorites. It fits a little oversized and comes in eight colors. I love this pink smoke color!

Thank you so much for stopping by! Have a wonderful weekend!

Peplum and Pincord

how to style a peplum top, pincord shorts, bohoblu, style on a budget

Happy Thursday! I hope you're having a great week! This has honestly been an emotional week for me. Several ups and some downs. But I guess every week can certainly be this way! Most people who know me personally wouldn't say that I am an overly sensitive or emotional person but y'all my baby finishing preschool this week has got me feeling so sappy. At her end of the year program the other night, I lost it during the slideshow with the song "Let Them be Little" playing in the background. I am so sad that this chapter of our lives is ending. I have absolutely loved the amazing preschool that both of my girls have been able to attend. They have both had the exact same teachers and they are some of the most wonderful people I've ever met! Motherhood is one bittersweet roller coaster of being excited that your child is growing up and wanting time to just stand still.

Today, I am remixing the Megan top with the Ella pincord shorts, both from BohoBlu! The Megan peplum top can also seen in this post and the Ella pincord shorts were also styled in this post. These two pieces are two of my very favorites from the Spring collection and I love how they look paired together! I added heels to dress up the look but I think this combination would also look really cute with sandals for a more casual style. The top is sassy but classy and the shorts are a mom friendly length! I'm filing this look under repeat. Use my code emilyxo to save 10% off at BohoBlu.

I hope you all have a great day! Thank you so much for visiting!

Instagram Roundup

style on a budget, spring style, how to dress for spring, mom style
Hey there and Happy Wednesday! Yesterday, we finally closed on my husband's first home that we have been trying to sell for awhile now. It's the biggest relief to that house behind us! Praise the Lord! Owning two homes is just way too much stress and adulting, lol.

Today, I'm rounding up eight looks from Instagram with full details from each post. I have been carrying straw bags and wear these sandals non-stop. The sandals are definitely an investment item (much more than I typically spend on a single item) but when you think about cost per wear, you'll get your money's worth out of them. I bought mine a year ago and have worn them over a 100 times. They are like a grown up, dressy version of a flip flop!

I hope y'all have a wonderful day! Thanks so much for stopping by!
