Currently Loving

style on a budget, north carolina blogger, mom style, fall fashion, casual style

Happy Friday! I hope your week has been amazing! As I mentioned yesterday, my week has been incredibly busy and I am so looking forward to some downtime this week. I fully intend on sleeping in as long as my children let me on Saturday morning. My body definitely needs the rest!

Today, I am rounding up eight items that I am currently loving. Almost everything on my list today I already own or it's on it's way to me!

1. Leggings | I featured these leggings in my Target Try Ons post earlier this week and I had to get a pair! For the amazing price tag, I was so surprised how good the quality was! The fit is also flattering and they are so comfortable. I found them to be true to size.

2. Turtleneck Tunic | Now that's leggings season, I realized that I have a major shortage of leggings friendly tops in my wardrobe. I ordered this cozy tunic sweater this week and I can't wait to wear it!

3. Minnie Tee | We go back to Disney next month so I am in full on Disney prep mode now! I have been searching for cute tees that fit my personal style and this one is perfect. It's also under $10!

4. Fleece Jacket | I recently got a fleece vest from this same company and it's the softest, coziest thing ever so I knew I needed a jacket too. This neural color will go with everything! I sized up to a medium to layer with sweaters to stay warm this winter.

5. Nikes | Y'all, I'm going to be super serious and tell you that these are the most comfortable shoes that I have ever worn. I got a pair in this style a year ago and I have probably worn them over 200 times. No joke. I wear them to work, I wear them to workout, and I wear them with everything! I am going to pick up a new pair for our Disney trip because I love them that much. They fit true to size and you can thank me later. Best shoes ever!

6. Hooded Poncho | I absolutely love ponchos! They are perfect for throwing over a long sleeve tee or a dress for an easy, warm look. I also love that this one is pink (hello, favorite color) and it has a hood. I'm adding this to the top of my wish list!

7. Scarf | How cute is this leopard scarf?! I just don't think you can ever have too many leopard print scarves and this one is definitely a great one to add to your collection! I saw in store this past weekend and it's gorgeous!

8. Camo Pants | These pants were also featured in my Target Try Ons and I already own them! I had to have them the day I get that try on session because the fit is just incredible. The rise is somewhere between mid and high so it's super mommy friendly. They are called a jegging but they are much thicker than your typical jegging and the stretch is great while keeping their shape all day long. They also fit very true to size. The gray camo is such a great neutral too!

Thank you so much for stopping by! Have a great weekend!

Thrifting Tips and Matching Outfits From Swap

swap.com, style on a budget, thrifting tips, tips for thrift shopping, north carolina blogger, mom blogger, mom style

Happy Wednesday! I hope you're having a wonderful week so far! In yesterday's blog post, that I shared that I started blogging by sharing pregnancy updates and thrifted outfits were my first fashion related posts. I have always loved shopping and clothes. My mother and I used to spend our weekends in thrift shops when I was growing up. During my pregnancies, I wore a lot of thrifted outfits because I just didn't want to spend a ton of money on items that I wouldn't wear after pregnancy. I shared some of these looks here on my blog within my weekly pregnancy updates. A few years later, I didn't have a lot of extra money to spend on new clothes because I had just resigned from my teaching position to be at home with my daughters. I was living in old yoga pants and t-shirts. I just didn't feel good about the way I looked, especially after having baby number two. So I decided to do something about it. I got back into an at home workout routine and I started thrift shopping again to create looks that fit my current body. One of my now close friends, would share her #ootd on Instagram and I loved seeing what she was wearing each day so I started sharing mine. These outfit posts connected me with so many other ladies who also have a passion for style, especially on a budget.

So I share all of that to say that today, I am getting back to my roots in matching thrifted outfits with my sweet daughters from Swap.com! Swap.com is the largest online consignment and thrift store. They offer clothing for men, women, and children as well as maternity items! They even sell gently used toys, games, movies, books, and so much more! You can go thrifting right from your own couch while you are still in your pajamas. How awesome is that?!

Tips for Thrifting on Swap.com:
Thanks so much to Swap.com for giving me credit to shop to create this post!

Know exactly what you are looking for. Thrifting can be super overwhelming and it can be super tempting to just throw everything in your cart but you need a game plan. Are you looking for a certain clothing item? Do you have an event coming up that you need an outfit for? Are you trying to find the perfect outfits for family photos? Start there when you are searching to narrow it down.

For our matching outfits, I knew I wanted us all to have faux fur vests so I started with that first and found one for all three of us. I was thrilled to find the girls matching vests in their sizes and a super similar vest for me. All of our vests were under $10 each! After I found our vests, I searched for black dresses and narrowed my search down to our specific sizes. At Swap.com, you can search for specific sizes, clothes, brands, styles, and condition of items to find exactly what you are looking for. Also, there's no need to worry about something not fitting. Swap.com has made returns hassle free so you can always return an item if it doesn't work for you. They have made thrifting so simple! Yay for style on a budget! You can also use the code 25FALLFUN to save 25% off at Swap.com!

Also, if you are looking for even more tips on successful thrift store shopping check out this post Thrifting 101 post that I created a few years ago!

32 Things About Me For My 32nd Birthday

north carolina blogger, style on a budget, happy birthday to me, mom style, fall fashion

Hey y'all! Happy Birthday to me! To celebrate my thirty second birthday, I'm sharing my current favorite outfit (I've literally been living in this sweater lately) and thirty two things you may or may not know about me! This list is really in no particular order of importance and it's random but I am too so it's perfect for me, lol. I hope you enjoy getting to know me a little bit better!

north carolina blogger, style on a budget, happy birthday to me, mom style, fall fashion

1. I started this blog back in 2009 when I was pregnant with my oldest daughter. I just started it as a way to document my pregnancy.

2. My favorite color has always been pink. If there's a pink option, it's mine!

3. I have a strange, irrational fear of whales. I don't know what it is but they freak me out! Sea World was an awful experience for me.

4. Sweets are one of my weaknesses, especially sour candy. Sour Patch kids are my favorite and I love a slice of cheesecake!

5. I mostly only listen to Christian music and country music. My kids only know two genres of music: Jesus songs and cowboy songs, lol.

6. I have been married to my husband since 2008. We will celebrate 10 years of marriage in 2018!

7. I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (also in 2008) with a degree in Elementary Education.

8. I have only traveled out of the country once. My husband and I went to the Dominican Republic for our honeymoon.

9. My family owns their own small business of six convenience stores. I worked at one of them throughout college.

10. I don't like surprises. They stress me out.

11. My husband and I have been together (officially) since November of 2006. He's my best friend!

12. My top places to visit on my bucket list are Italy, Greece, and Hawaii.

13. I have to take at least one trip to the mountains every fall. I love to see the gorgeous colors and the mountain air is just good for the soul.

14. I bought the second wedding dress I tried on. It didn't even fit me and I had to have it tailored down three sizes since it was the only one available. I just knew it was the one!

15. I'm an extroverted introvert which basically means that I'm outgoing when I feel like it, lol.

16. I taught third grade for four years. I resigned from my position to spend more time at home with my children when I had my second daughter.

north carolina blogger, style on a budget, happy birthday to me, mom style, fall fashion

17. I serve in the nursery monthly at my church (that's where I get my baby fix) and I also serve twice a month in the tech booth. I run the computer which basically means I run videos, lyrics, and sermon notes.

18. I have lived in North Carolina all of my life.

19. Flowers make me ridiculously happy. Especially if they are pink!

20.  I worked at a grocery store when I was in high school and I loved it. Scanning groceries was my favorite. Yes, I'm weird!

north carolina blogger, style on a budget, happy birthday to me, mom style, fall fashion

21. I'm the PTO president and this is my third year serving on the PTO board at my girls' school.

22. I currently work at a non-profit afterschool enrichment program as the lead STEM teacher. I love my job and my part-time schedule.

23. The beach is my happy place. I could literally sit on the beach all day long and be 100% content.

24. I began my "fashion blogging" with thrifted outfits that I put together from local thrift stores and the Goodwill.

25. The first place Josh and I went together was Woods of Terror (a haunted trail) and he proposed at the same place almost exactly one year later.

26. I have two brothers and I'm the youngest.

27. I have no self control when it comes to chips and salsa or Chick-Fil-A waffle fries. I need all of the Chick-Fil-A sauce!

28. My favorite holiday is Christmas but I can't get excited about it until at least November 15 (the day after my birthday).

north carolina blogger, style on a budget, happy birthday to me, mom style, fall fashion

29. My husband painted our front door pink this past August and I think it's the best home improvement we have ever made.

30. I'm one-fourth Cherokee and my kids are one-fourth Puerto Rican.

31. I always wanted to be a girl mom. It was literally my dream to have two little girls! The names Julianna and Olivia were actually never on my list for potential names but they fit my girls perfectly.

32. We are surprising our daughters with a week long Disney vacation for Christmas and I am bursting at the seams with excitement! Disney is one of my absolute favorite places to go and I cannot wait to take my girls there again!
