Boo at the Zoo 2012

This morning, Brittney and I took the girls to the zoo for the annual Boo at the Zoo event. Kids could wear their costumes for a variety of activities. Julianna is still kind of little for a lot of the activities but she enjoyed herself just the same. Julianna is a pirate for Halloween this year but she won't wear any of the accessories that would indiciate that she is one. Won't wear the hat or the eyepatch and won't carry a hook or a sword. Oh well- she looks cute nonetheless!

sweet Olivia

Since Olivia is sitting up independently now, it's so much fun to take pictures of her! We did a little photo session this week while big sister was napping.

thrifty: new finds

My parents had Julianna on Saturday evening so it was just Olivia and I. It's much easier to go thrift shopping with one child rather than two so I took advantage of my one baby time and went to Goodwill. I didn't need any clothes for the girls. They are stocked up very well for awhile but I needed a few things for myself since a lot of my fall/winter clothes do not fit or they were maternity since I've worn maternity clothes during the fall/winter for the last 2 out of 3 years.

I really wanted a long sleeve light weight denim button up top. I had seen them online from J. Crew, GAP, Old Navy, and a few of my other favorite retailers but I'm not paying full price. I like going into a thrift store with a game plan. It helps me stay focused and not walk out with a bunch of stuff that I really don't need and won't actually use. So I went to the long sleeve section first. I found a cute plaid long sleeve Tommy Hilfiger shirt that I loved and then went down the next aisle. And guess what I found?! A denim top that was exactly what I was looking for! It was my size and from the GAP. Both tops were about $8.00 so I'd say that was a successful thrifting trip!

Olivia- 5 months

Miss Olivia Grace turned 5 months old yesterday! She is growing beautifully! She weighs about 16 lbs. and is about 25 inches long. We call her our little teapot- short and stout. Her eyes are still the prettiest shade of blue and that gorgeous thick brown hair is growing longer. She doesn't have any teeth yet but she's definitely teething. She chews on anything that she can get her chubby little hands on! Especially her beloved Sophie the Giraffe.

She doesn't show much interest in rolling over either way but she can sit up all by herself for several minutes at a time. Olivia loves to squeal and "talk" to us- especially when she's playing in her exersaucer.

Olivia sleeps in about 5 hour stretches at night. She still wants to wake up to hang out with mommy at least once, usually twice during the night. But I don't mind- I enjoy the quiet snuggles with my smallest baby at night.

Pumpkins and Apples

This past Saturday, we went to Millstone Creek Orchards as a family to pick out a couple of pumpkins and enjoy some apple goodies (including apple butter and apple cider slushies). It was such a fun, relaxing fall activity! Julianna had such a blast enjoying the tire swing and rearranging the pumpkins!
