dove soap and lavender

Bathtime is quite a big deal at our house. Julianna loves bathtime! I've given her a bath just about every night since she's come home from the hospital. Once we got past the bird baths that are required when the umbilical cord stump is still there, she loved baths. Even more so when she graduated from her baby bathtub and got to sit all by herself in the big tub. She splashs herself, but mostly me. Organizes her toys. Stands up to talk to the duck that covers the faucet. And just has a great time! I always manage to take some cute photos of her while she's in the tub. I wish I had a fancy camera to capture these moments but my Droid X will have to do for now.

And as for the title of this post... Julianna has very sensitive skin, just like her mommy. I had tried everything. Everything with the label of being for "sensitive skin." Well, apparently that stuff wasn't for "JuJu skin." I asked her doctor and she suggested using Dove bar soap. And... success! She hasn't had any reaction to it at all. So for the past 4 months we've been exclusively using Dove bar soap for bathing. I love the smell of it. It reminds me of taking a bath at my grandma's house when I was a little girl. She only ever used Dove bar soap and that's probably still the case.

And the half of the title, lavender, describes the shampoo I use. I love the smell of the bedtime shampoo by Johnson and Johnson but it left Julianna's hair kind of greasy feeling. So I switched to a cheap kids shampoo by Suave that is hypoallergic and it still has a beautiful lavender smell. Bathtime smells amazing and so does Julianna. :)
