ear muffs

Julianna had a great first Thanksgiving. She loved all of the attention! She wouldn't have anything to do with the mashed potatoes I gave her... and she didn't want any sweet potato casserole. She clearly doesn't appreciate good food yet but we're working on it.

This morning, we completely through off her rountine by putting her in the car (still wearing footie pajamas) and got on the road to South Carolina. She slept about 2 hours of the trip then fussed and smiled the other 2 hours. She refused naps all day long. She just wasn't having it. All she wanted today was a bottle and someone to play with her.

We found a pair of old ear muffs at Josh's dad's house. She loved them!

The second picture seriously cracks me up. She was mid laugh when I took that picture. I love it!

She also had her very first trip to Toys R Us today. She was so content the entire time we were there. At some point during the end of the trip there, my sweet little Julianna peed all over herself and me. It was straight through her diaper, her jeans, and my shirt. Just another one of those moments that you just can't help but laugh about!

We've had a great kick off to the holiday season!

happy turkey day!

I'm so excited for Julianna's first Thanksgiving! I am so thankful to have my beautiful little girl this year! She's such a blessing! Josh's family will be coming over to our house for lunch and then we will be heading to my brother's mother-in-laws house for dinner with my family. Then first thing Friday morning, we're driving down to South Carolina to spend the weekend with Josh's dad and stepmom. Busy but wonderful times to be had! Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Oh, and check out my very first pumpkin cheesecake:

well-baby check-up

Julianna went into for her "6 month" check-up on Thursday. Obviously she was supposed to go 2 months ago but with Josh taking a new job, he had to wait 90 days for his insurance to begin. Julianna is on his insurance because it's much more affordable.

She is currently 16 pounds and 13 ounces and is 27 inches long! Baby girl has come a long way. Birth weight was 5 pounds and 8 ounces and she was 18.5 inches long. Her weight still puts her in the peanut category at 10th percentile but her height is in the 50th percentile. So she's long and skinny! (But as you will see in the photos below, baby girl has rolls :)

Our pediatrician said she looked great. She has met all of milestones so far and is pretty much doing everything that a 9 month old can do. She has begun to pull up and is still trying to figure out how to crawl. She just scoots on her bottom where she wants to go or uses her old faithful trick of rolling.

25 years old

On Sunday, I celebrated my 25th birthday. It was a good day but birthdays are just not as much fun as they were when I was 10! I have much more responsibility and too many bills now. I love my life now though... even if birthdays are boring!

* happy eight months, baby girl! *

-Julianna has two teeth now. The front bottom ones.
-She's trying to crawl. But for now all she can do is scoot and roll to where she wants to be.
-Jules is getting more interested in "real" food. She doesn't care as much about her bottle and wants big girl food!
-She weighs a little over 16 pounds. We'll get the rest of her measurements tomorrow. She has a well baby check.

happy veterans day!

Thank you to all who have served and are currently serving our country!

My grandfather during WWII:

mommy workday

Since Julianna didn't go to daycare on Wednesday, I took her today. I was off of work for Veteran's Day. I felt so guilty taking her when I didn't have to work. But I wanted her routine to be maintained since she had left early one day, missed the next, and would definitely be going on Friday. It just seemed to make sense for her to go today. Plus she really loves being there. She's such a little social butterfly already.

While she was at daycare, I cleaned up the house, santized her toys, washed the sheets on the beds, got a haircut and a pedicure... and get this: I even took a THREE hour nap! It was much needed. Everything was much needed today.

The pedicure and haircut:

I will be getting it tomorrow at 5! I'm excited and nervous all at the same time. Tattoos are such a big committment but I know I'll love it.

reasons to be thankful

I have so many reasons to be thankful. I don't take enough time to really think about how blessed I am. I take things for granted because it's so easy to do.

I'm thankful for...

-My husband, Josh and my sweet baby girl, Julianna.

-My family. I have a great one!

-North Ridge Church. I am so blessed to have a wonderful place to worship.

-The great people that I work with who keep me motivated and encouraged.

-A nice home to live in. Clothes and shoes to wear. Food to eat. Car to drive.

-My students in my class. I learn something new from them everyday!

-The ability to live in a free country. Happy Veterans Day!

just the 2 of us

I was peaking into Julianna's mouth yesterday to look at her tooth. To my surprise, right beside of her current tooth was another one coming in right beside of it. Poor thing has been cutting a tooth and had a virus at the same time. I had a feeling that the 2nd tooth would be coming soon because everyone kept telling me that once that get one another will follow really soon. Well, that was true.

ah-choo times 2

It's ah-choo times 2 at the Soto house. Julianna is sick. I had to pick her up early from daycare today because she was running a fever and had other icky virus symptoms. I took her to the doctor to get her checked out. The doctor said it's pretty much just a run of the mill virus. All I can do is give her Tylenol for the fever and make sure she stays hydrated. She hasn't been to the peditrician since she was 4 months old because of Josh's change in jobs which equaled a change in insurance. Her new insurance just kicked in at the beginning of November. Well, Julianna is 16 pounds now! She is finally above the 10th percentile for weight now. She's close to the 25th percentile. Jules has come a long way!

Like I said at the beginning, there are 2 sick ones in our house. Josh is experiencing flu-like symptoms and a sore throat. Chicken soup and bedtime for him. Julianna can't go to daycare tomorrow. Josh has been required to stay home by his boss. So nurse Emily has to take the day off to care for the sicklings.

Get healthy, yall!

On the positive side, Julianna had a great time tearing up the paper on the examination table at the doctor's office today:

coming soon to a foot near you...

I'm getting my tattoo in inspiration of Julianna on Saturday. The concept is "Faith, Hope, and Love"... my faith has grown since Julianna was born, she is my hope (and her middle name), and I love everything about my precious little girl! The elements below will be combined into a cute design for my right foot. The font will most likely be a little more cursive-ish that this font.

ah-choo!

I think Julianna may have her very first cold. Watery eyes, sneezy, snotty, stuffy nose. She doesn't have a fever but she's completely ill. I feel so bad for her! But she did let mommy get this super cute picture of her tonight during bathtime (soothing vapor wash!).

welcome to my favorite month of the year!

I love November. The gorgeous leaves. The crisp fall air. My birthday. Thanksgiving. What's not to love?! The picture below is of my classroom door. I made this turkey last year. I put it on the door and the theme was being thankful. I changed it up this year to incorporate academics. The kids loved making the feathers. I'm not sure if we ever get too old to trace our hands and cut them out. It's timeless.
Josh is at "man camp" this weekend with a group of men from church. I'm glad he's getting a chance to hang out with guys and act like a guy. I'm also getting my girl time in my sweet little sidekick- Jules. That's pretty much her main nickname right now. At daycare, the ladies call her Jules. When we walked in yesterday morning, a little boy (probably about 3 years old) said, "Look! It's Jules! YAY!" It was terribly cute.

I love that little girl so much!
